A “good smartphone” is good. A “good waterproof smartphone” is better! So, since this advantage is often badly valued, not visible enough and that it cannot be guessed just by looking at the phones, here is the selection of the best waterproof smartphones of the moment, tested and approved by our laboratory!
All the selected smartphones have in common to guide you very well with their integrated GPS, to take nice pictures when the light conditions are good and to ensure good autonomy, for at least one day.
The best and most high-end of them justify their excellence with photos in low light without flash of better quality, by common autonomies of more than two days and by a screen quality, in terms of color rendering, reflections, contrast, above average. They also commonly have more storage space, faster components and a construction that better promotes their cooling.
We have selected, by price range, those that deserve your full attention, from the most complete high-end model, with the best autonomy and an advanced photo mode, to the very popular “cheap smartphone”, the best quality / price ratio (good plan) of the moment.
Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra
As always with Samsung’s new high-end, we don’t have much to reproach this Galaxy S20 Ultra. The Korean flagship of this early decade collects five stars for a deserved flawless performance. It fulfills its mission as a technological showcase without any complexes and presents itself as the best of the smartphones passed in our laboratory. Simply put, whatever the user’s intended use, this S20 Ultra will do the job. So much so that it even allows itself to integrate a 5G chip to anticipate the new generation of mobile networks.
OnePlus 8 Pro
As is often the case, OnePlus is successfully stacking state-of-the-art technologies to deliver a very successful OnePlus 8 Pro. It’s a pity that the Chinese flagship doesn’t do a little better in pictures. It’s slightly behind the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, which is much more expensive. This OnePlus 8 Pro is proof that the Chinese manufacturer is able to compete in the high-end smartphone segment.
Samsung Galaxy S20+
Without too many surprises, the Galaxy S20+ is the perfect compromise between a compact S20 and an oversized S20 Ultra. It is therefore a complete and pleasant to use smartphone, whatever the use. A good top of the range, in short.
Huawei P30 Pro
Year after year, Huawei improves its recipe and this P30 Pro is a good example. From the screen to the photo – forgetting the audio – Huawei’s ultra-high-end photomaniacal mobile is a true success story. Its 3 different optics, if not flawless, offer valuable versatility in photography. And the smartphone built around it all offers an impeccable experience.
Sony Xperia 10 II
The Sony Xperia 10 mark II brings some nice new features compared to the first generation. The presence of a waterproof certification is almost unique in this price segment and the Oled display is excellent. Everything was going very well for the Japanese mobile until this terrible performance in pictures. Sony seemed to be the smartphone brand most likely to succeed in this field, and yet, this is not the case. Because of this road trip, we advise you instead to turn to the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite.
