Actually the Pixel 2 meets all my requirements. It is not too big, has current Android and the camera is considered one of the best.
I don’t care if the non-edgeless display is up-to-date or not. I can’t understand the criticism of it, moreover the Pixel 2 makes an absolutely valuable impression both from the front and the back. I have also had the Galaxy S8 and S9 in my hands before, they didn’t convince me personally. But well, tastes are different, everyone is funny like him.
I would have liked to keep this phone. For comparison, I had once put the pixel and my Sony Z5 next to each other and loaded the identical website. Hossa, white is really white on the pixel. The display is brilliant. Until…until I picked up the phone. I was shocked at how blatant the blue cast of the display is even when it is tilted slightly. I’m not talking about a 10 degree viewing angle. Without having measured that, I would like to claim that even at a viewing angle of 70-80 degrees, there is a decent blue cast. This always affects the upper part of the display seen by the user. I can’t explain this physically, but fortunately I don’t have to. Be that as it may, this is really completely unacceptable for a device in this price range. I had read in some tests that the Pixel 2 XL had this problem, but not the small Pixel 2. Either that’s not correct, or with the Pixel 2 XL it’s even worse. So the device unfortunately goes back.
SUPPLEMENT: In the meantime I have been here and there in some electronics stores and have looked at some more Pixel 2. There was one device where the effect was subjectively a bit less, but still disturbing, but three other devices were at least as badly affected as the device I had at home. Surely it is not possible that nobody notices that!?
Why should I malign a device that I would have liked to keep, so just take a pixel 2, open Chrome (or whatever), tilt the phone slightly and see what happens to the white areas. Well? It turns blue. If not: Congratulations, I was even approached by an employee at a specialty store who is promoting the pixels there on behalf of Google. I showed it to him and he said: You’re right, I hadn’t even noticed that before, but you should use more question marks, that will enhance your comment and give it more emphasis. A few exclamation marks here and there (I recommend at least 7!) and you have already convinced mankind of your opinion.
Can anyone help me? On my Mate 20 (not Pro!) the HDR mode does not differ from normal mode, there is no brightness added. Is this a bug, or do others have it here? It does not matter if I have Master AI enabled or disabled… thanks in advance.
The small pixel has no blue cast. You are also the first one to say so. Have you really ever held the cell phone in your hands????
Maybe you have a kink in the pupil? Or an optic neuritis? Why don’t you go to an eye doctor?
I am thrilled! In search of an Android Smartphone with a good camera, I found the pixel. The device is very flat and lies, thanks to the aluminum, very comfortable in the hand.
To the camera: I have never had such a good camera on a smartphone! At home I also have an iPhone 7 in use. I was convinced that the best cameras are built into iPhones… with the pixel I was disabused. The photos are much higher resolution than on my iPhone 7 (viewed on the computer). The pixel’s camera also offers a portrait mode, which Apple claims only works with two lenses: Google does it with one. Top!
Furthermore the workmanship of the buttons as well as the display is on a premium level. Only the display edges could be narrower. But as soon as you hold the device in your hands, this doesn’t bother you anymore. I especially like Google’s decision to use USB-C, which is the standard port of current and future devices (like MacBooks or newer Android devices). Technically the pixel also offers a speaker on the upper and lower side of the device. This provides an amazing sound (for the size) – for example when the alarm clock rings or watching movies. Furthermore the Pixel IP68 offers a water protection, which saved my pixel after one hour in the washing machine! (Please don’t ask how the pixel made it into the washing machine….).
If you are looking for a fast Smartphone, which is future-proof (regarding updates) and is looking for a very good camera, the Pixel 2 is a great choice! I am satisfied with the device and I won’t give it back so fast 😉
5/5
Got the Google Pixel 2 because of the incredible hypes on various YouTube channels. Also the advertisement, in which Nusret Gökce – also known as SALT BAE – is playing, made me aware of this mobile phone.
Here the very good camera was always the center of attention and that you have endless memory. However, one must not lose sight of the other aspects of this smartphone.
This includes the display. Let’s be honest: A mobile phone that will be the most real in 2017 with such large distances between the housing and the display (top and bottom) is simply no longer up to date. Here the display of my old iPhone 6 from 2014 has even a better relation to the case. The resolution is also very bad.
The second big drawback is the virtual keyboard. I just can’t get along with the Google keyboard. Umlauts and special letters from other languages are displayed, e.g. on Samsung mobile phones, if you hold a letter down for a long time. This is not the case with this keyboard. Even if you change the language, the umlauts do not appear.
>br>speech quality: Probably the most important function of a mobile phone. During various conversations, my counterpart was not clearly understandable.
operating system: Personally, I don’t like the naked Android OS at all. Samsung and Huawei’s modified Android interfaces are much better here.
At this price the phone is overpriced. The very high price is not justified at all.
I returned the phone after only 2 days within the 14-day return period.
This is now my third pure Google Smartphone after Nexus 4 and Nexus 5X. Absolutely top, super fast and very persistent. Would I buy again anytime.
Supplement 30.08.2018
Now I have the pixel 2 since the purchase in January 2018 now a good half year in operation, since the beginning of this month came the update to Android 9.0 (Pie). The battery life has improved massively, with normal use (phone, texting, surfing) the battery reports with only 15% only after 40-48 hours. I would buy it again anytime today.
I’d be happy to give you feedback on your review if you want it that much. You are surely not a native German speaker? Your German is really very bad. The structure of your sentences is quite bumpy, if I may say so. And unfortunately you don’t really learn much about the smartphone. All in all for me the grade 3-
OstFriese writes: I treated myself to the S10 and bought my wife the Mate 20. Already from then on his review is fake (mEn). Maybe think about it Mister VINE-PRODUKTTESTER.
I have experienced exactly the same thing. Only that I have now switched from the S7 Edge to the Mate 20. I can only agree in all points here
Nothing more to say than that it’s the perfect Android phone. Only downside is that audio is via USB-C but an adapter to standard audio jack is supplied as well as a USB-C to female USB-A for easy data transfer between devices.
Thank you, you have opened my eyes for the lack of technical quality of the product. Keep it up!

The Pixel 2 64 GB (sold and shipped by Amazon) replaces my Windows Phone Lumia 950 XL.
It has a nano and an eSIM. It works for me with Google Project Fi (via eSIM).
No reboots due to errors yet. It’s pronounced fast. No slowdown so far.
Display in the sun is easy to read.
Find the smaller format very handy. Even with my old eyes I can handle the font size well. Can be adjusted via Oreo.
Compared to the Lumia, it is certainly not so robust against falls. Hopefully the manufacturers will soon give up this bad habit of offering fragile phones instead of those with a robust plastic housing because of their allegedly more beautiful design. Why a nice design when you need a protective cover?!
> Too bad that the pixel does not support wireless charging.

I made the transition from Iphone to Pixel. As I couldn’t pay so much for the new Iphone, I looked for something similar in quality and I am glad I choose Pixel. Works like charms, in one month maybe lagged two times only…which is impressive. Photos are coming amazingly, the new software is customizable in many ways which I love. The phone itself came new, as advertised…Screen, hmm..I couldn’t find a flaw for it, and the speakers! Finally I can hear my mom speaking in Skype with her nephews :-). Good size phone, bought another one for my wife as well.
Vote for the 5 star ratings. I’ve had the smartphone for 3 weeks and I’m very happy with it.
However, yesterday I unloaded it for the first time 100% and then I couldn’t boot it up anymore. The red light was blinking and there was no battery charging symbol. Not even after hours on the charging cable. I was able to solve the problem by keeping the power button pressed for almost a minute. Now it seems to work normally again. Of course this is not desirable and inspiring confidence. I hope there will be no more mistakes.
The parcel was half squashed and was visibly mishandled by South Africa customs, yeah! … 🙁
But the product box inside only had wrinkled corners because the google box is made of really thick and really dense material
Product and product accessories were 100% fine, and have not had any problems yet.
It does not have any locking on network providers or features, i had no problem with my SIM card

If you are looking for a new phone – you should consider this one.
Run in 2017 but it is still worth to buy.
I think it’s the best small android device.
I compared it with OnePlus 6 and it’s awesome just like OP6.
What to write about a 3 years old model.
When it came out with one of the best cameras!
For my demands world class is just a Google top quality.
I think it’s important to mention that the device was really like new.
Was without OVP but absolute top condition for 150€ bargain.
After using the phone for a couple months, It was dropped (50 cm, in case) and the screen shattered. Maybe bad luck, maybe these are refurbished phones? I am not sure.
When asked about a return, I was told I could return for a refund if there were no mechanical issues. I was upfront that the screen was broken before sending it back. Upon return, I was told the only option was to pay an additional 150 euros to replace the screen… To make it worse, I was quoted less to get it done elsewhere.
I really liked using the mobile phone, because the camera is a dream. until it unfortunately gives up the ghost from one day to the next, which is expressed in the fact that the camera app can no longer be started, or crashes directly. This is probably a common problem (see forums!). Erasing memory, emptying cache and resetting the phone doesn’t help.
Google knows the problem, but they are probably too fine for a solution.
That’s why I never buy another pixel, although I really liked it!
It was very quick and easy. Br>And no problem with the product itself.
More than very good i say like new
Best for this money…
Best phone ever!
As described
Totally overpriced. After less than a year the battery was defective. I ordered the mobile phone directly from Google. The customer service at Google was just miserable!
For photos just switch off the AI…
