Huawei P20 Pro - user opinions, reviews

Not bought through amazon, but I would like to share my opinion about the device after half a year of use.

Until the iPhone 4 I was an apple friend, but I found the price policy bit by bit outrageous. Since the Galaxy S4 I was a Samsung fan until I was not satisfied with my last Galaxy device (S8) due to various defects. My father then brought me to Huawei.

A short online comparison of the technical data with all more or less current smartphones quickly brought light into the darkness and so I decided to buy a Huawei P20 Pro. I especially attached great importance to a very good photo quality and long battery life. The P30 Pro would have met my criteria even better on paper, but that was too expensive for me at the time.

First impression:
The P20 Pro comes nicely packaged and with all the usual accessories, i.e. power supply, USB C charging cable, headphones and USB C to jack adapter for standard aux headphones (the separate aux port was saved).
The setup was very easy and intuitive thanks to the Huawei Phone Clone – this has already saved time and nerves. All my data (except for some password or PIN protected data) was transferred from my Galaxy S8 to the P20 Pro in no time. It’s great that it’s so easy today and that you don’t have to type in every single contact anymore. 🙂
The workmanship is excellent on the outside. Despite its 6.1 inch display, the P20 Pro fits perfectly in the hand and has no annoying gaps.

Display &amp, Photo:
The P20 Pro has, in contrast to the normal P20, a viewing angle stable OLED screen with high contrast and black content. The display has a resolution of 2.240×1.080 pixels in Full-HD, the detail display is excellent. Even in strong ambient light the display is convincing: the sensor next to the front camera works reliably and even in strong light the contents can be recognized very well. From the beginning I found the cooperation with Leica exciting and here Huawei obviously benefits from the know-how of the traditional German company.
The snapshots always succeed, no matter how good or bad the ambient light is. Disturbing noise or the like is not an issue here. Even in twilight, the supreme discipline, so to speak, the results are super. There is even a night mode, which scratches the last remaining light together and ensures good results.
The front camera releases with 24 megapixels and also shoots amazingly sharp photos. A lack of sharpness here is mostly caused by the activated beauty function, which reduces skin imperfections, which is accompanied by a decrease in sharpness. In low light conditions, the front camera shows the typical deficits, which partly result in reduced sharpness and image noise.
In my opinion, the camera of the Galaxy S8 was already good, but the P20 Pro is worlds ahead of the S8, actually there is no comparison possible at all.
I have never seen such a good camera in a smartphone before, definitely a unique selling point of Huawei.

Performance &amp, battery:
The Kirin 970 processor ensures sufficient performance in all situations. The system reacts smoothly and lightning fast, I could not notice any delays so far. Dialing into the WLAN or LTE network and also switching between the two networks works fast and without waiting times.
So far nothing that excites me, because I expect this from my smartphone in 2019. Benchmark tests for people interested in details can be found in the internet in large numbers.
What excited me more is the battery capacity of 4.000 mAh. Since the batteries of current smartphones are unfortunately not easily replaceable, my new companion should have a good battery capacity by default. The P20 Pro still convinces me here and does not let up even after half a year of intensive use. Under normal use, the P20 Pro lasts about one and a half to two days before it needs to be connected to the power supply. My previous S8 had to be plugged in every evening.
I noticed that the P20 Pro cannot be charged inductively. But for me personally, that doesn’t lead to a point deduction.

Conclusion:
I wouldn’t want to miss my P20 Pro anymore and it certainly won’t be the last smartphone from Huawei for me.
In my opinion, the price/performance ratio is simply outstanding and I’ve never had so many useful functions with any smartphone (I can even operate my TV via Huawei Smart Control!).
Slight criticism is that the memory is unfortunately not expandable. But the basic configuration with 128 GB (of which about 114 GB free) memory (and by the way 6 GB RAM) is very good.
All in all a very good smartphone for all Android fans!

When I turned on the smartphone for the first time, I was immediately thrilled. The OLED display shows the colors just amazingly well and with the narrow display edges (especially on top and sides) the smartphone looks great. You can argue about the notch on the top edge. But after a few days, you’ll get used to it completely, because the space next to the front camera, the front speaker and the small notification LED is used wisely. But you can also hide it by making the display black on the left and right side of the indentation.
All in all, the Huawei P20 Pro with its 6.1 inch is not exactly small, but for those who find the display too big, a simple wipe over the virtual navigation bar will bring you into one-handed mode.

An overview of other advantages:
The fingerprint sensor can store up to 5 fingerprints and reacts quickly.
The location determination also works inside buildings in a short time, but outside the display is of course more accurate.
The display can be adjusted in color temperature according to your preferences and a blue light filter for evenings is also on board.
In addition, the system also has room for gadgets, such as the ankle gestures that allow you to take a screenshot when you tap your ankle twice.
The battery is really a blast, I can go almost two days without charging and if the battery is empty, it can be recharged within 90 minutes. Leider also Huawei does without a 3,5mm jack connector on this model, but an adapter is included in the package. (Then charging and listening to music is not possible in parallel.)
And Huawei still uses Bluetooth 4.2 and not 5.0.

Now to the camera:
The camera recognizes by means of artificial intelligence what kind of object is being photographed and sets the optimal conditions for a beautiful photo. If you don’t like this setting, you can do without the artificial intelligence or decide on the exposure yourself in Pro mode. The camera takes really good photos in every situation and I also like the portrait mode with the bokeh effect very much. Unfortunately the colors green and blue are sometimes displayed too strong in the picture. But the many useful camera modes, for example aperture, compensate this weakness. But the highlight of the camera is the almost lossless 3x and 5x zoom (pictures of the bear and the dolphins), as well as the strong night shots. In night mode you hold the smartphone in your hand for 4-6 seconds and the results are really impressive (see the last two pictures). Because of the long exposure time you can sometimes see things in the picture that you would not have noticed otherwise.
However, the camera is not good in all things. Because the videos could not convince me so far.

Desktop-Mode
To start the Desktop-Mode you don’t need an extra docking station like on the Samsung Galaxy S9, but a USB-C to HDMI adapter is enough. If you like it a bit more comfortable, you can also buy a small docking station to connect a mouse and/or a keyboard. Otherwise, the cell phone is a touchpad and a keyboard at the same time.
If you connect the Huawei P20 Pro with a screen, then you don’t see the surface of the cell phone, but a desktop surface. Here, you can open almost all apps in a windowed mode.
During the connection, the smartphone continues to receive notifications, but these are only displayed on the cell phone and not on the connected screen.
It is also possible to change the mode to mirror the view from the smartphone to the screen.

Since my docking station has a LAN input, I naturally wanted to know whether the cell phone recognizes this Internet connection. So I contacted the Huawei customer service, but they couldn’t answer my question either. So I just tried it out and the result is impressive: It works! With mobile data switched off and without WLAN, the internet pages loaded very fast. This feature is especially interesting for me, because I can now watch movies from the internet on our TV, even though the TV is not a Smart TV.

In total, after 6 months of use, I am still absolutely thrilled and can only recommend the Smartphone to everyone.

Altogether I am astonished, how difficult it is straight to find a new Top Smartphone that would be fair all my requirements.
Here are my criteria, which should fulfill a SMARTPHONE after current state of the art (the priority of the criteria corresponds to the order descending):
1st operating system: Android. (P20 PRO: present)
2. fingerprint sensor should not be on the back. The position at the front bottom, directly in the display, or on the side (e.g. in the power button, WHY NOT???) is ok. (P20 PRO: available)
3. internal memory at least 64GB + expandable via SD card. (P20 PRO: 128GB without SD-Slot)
4. (very) good photo quality (P20 PRO: indefinite)
5. DUAL-SIM (best with an additional SD-Slot (Samsung A5(2017) can do this)) (P20 PRO: only DUAL-SIM available)
6. waterproof or at least -repellent (P20 PRO: available)
7. WLAN-Bridge, i.e. an existing Smartphone-WLAN-connection via Smartphone-HotSpot (also via WIFI) to enable further devices.(P20 PRO: available)
8. some useful pre-installed Apps from the manufacturer like Memo/Notes, gallery, alarm clock with time announcement are desirable (P20 PRO: Memo, gallery: available, alarm clock WITHOUT time announcement: available)
9. good front camera (P20 PRO: available)
10. infrared interface (interesting, but not really mandatory) (P20 PRO: SmartContorller available but didn’t work with my Sony devices)
11. The device shouldn’t get hot even after 15 minutes of use. (P20 PRO: got a little warm after a few experiments with the camera)

Although the photo quality is only on the 4th place in my list, the point played a decisive role for my evaluation of the HUAWEI P20 PRO. Unfortunately the photo quality of the camera in normal daylight did not convince me at all. I had two older models of Samsung S8 and A5(2017) and a HTC U11 at hand at the same time and could therefore compare the pictures. Surprisingly, with the 1 year old Samsung A5 I managed to get better, more realistic and sharper pictures during the day than with the P20 PRO and other devices.

I have to practice the following criticism on the photo camera of the P20 PRO:
* The photos are often only in a small area of the image sharp. * What totally irritated me: the 40MP pictures were hardly better, or sometimes even worse than the 10MP pictures. The colors on the photos look partly fake and artificial

To the night mode quality:
It is definitely different than on the other smartphones. You get photos that partly light up the real darkness and make the night to an evening. The result are really interesting pictures with more details, but the pictures don’t show the real darkness. You should imagine it as if you take a picture with a weakly colored night vision device.

FAZIT:
By and large, I would give the still relatively expensive device only one star, because the in various comparison portals highly praised (1st place!!!! at dxomark ) photo quality during the day and the 40MP images have disappointed me very much. But I have to admit that Huawei P20 PRO met almost all other criteria from my list and the general quality of workmanship and feel is quite good at first sight. So I give the device 3 stars. But in the back of my mind is the thought that the manufacturer has apparently invested a lot of money for the hype around the camera quality.
As the smartphone I was looking for was not meant for me, I would rather make some cuts in my list and go for a 300€ cheaper, but with a comparable photo quality (except night mode) device (HTC U11).
For me personally, I wouldn’t buy a smartphone at the moment, but instead keep my old Samsung A5 and wait for the smartphone manufacturers to come around and move the fingerprint sensor button from the back to the front or to the side again. Then I’m sure there are many more devices that could be a good fit for me.

Away from the front: I did NOT buy the device at Amazon, but in a local store. Of course this doesn’t change the rating.

Owning the P20 pro for about 2 months now and can only say: Top!
It is super fast, responds immediately to every input and all games you can play on smartphones run super smoothly.
The battery is by far the best I’ve ever had. Despite intensive use (whatsapp, surfing, several videos on youtube, playing etc.) I get home with about 60% battery every evening. With my predecessor, the P9, it was usually more like 10-15% at the end of the day, if at all. I can use the battery for about 2 days of intensive use, if you use the phone only once in a while the battery will last the whole week. Thanks to the Super Charger, the battery is also fully charged again very quickly. In less than an hour from 10% to 100% I have never seen before. Even if you forgot to plug it in and want to charge a few percent while you get ready in the morning, you will get about 10-15% more battery in the 10 min shower than before. The display is pleasantly large for my hands, but I am also about 2 meters tall and have accordingly large hands. For people with smaller hands I recommend the normal P20.
The light sensor of the screen works extremely well. It automatically sounds brighter and darker, depending on how much light is in the environment, and always finds the best and most comfortable brightness level.

Well, now to the most important detail of the phone: the camera(s).
As there are already a lot of example pictures, I don’t need to upload my pictures here, but I can say that the camera is simply mega good.
The pictures are incredibly detailed, colors come across very naturally and even in the highest zoom the pictures are not too much consumed.
The camera has its greatest strength at night/dark. Here the camera performs better than probably any other model on the current smartphone market, even better than any Iphone camera! br> Under good conditions and settings, you can get super good, detailed pictures at night that are not too washy. Even stars can be photographed with the P20 Pro.
Naturally, the camera does not deliver the results of a professional real camera, so it is not very suitable for professional photographers, but for the hobby it is more than sufficient.
The interior camera also takes nice pictures, but does not stand out from the crowd.

The only contra-points I could find are the headphones provided by Huawei and the missing headphone jack. Those were already underground on the P9, were slightly improved on the P20 (pro) but still bad. The general sound is not the problem at all. The sound isn’t that bad, sure, not an experience, but not bad either.
The problem is that the headphones fit incredibly uncomfortably. They are MUCH too big and don’t even fit into my ears without hurting incredibly after a few minutes and then falling out.
The missing headphone connection is something I generally don’t like too much, but I can accept it. Huawei supplies an adapter USB-C to jack (which you should get a second one, because the adapter gets lost very quickly or is manufactured so filigree that I’m afraid the cable won’t last too long). With an adapter you can use any headphones you like. But the simultaneous charging and listening to music (via headphones) is history. But with the big battery, this shouldn’t be a problem at all, because you can accept the adapter and buy headphones for 10-20€, which are far better than the included ones in terms of sound and wearing comfort. That’s why I give full 5 stars for the probably most powerful smartphone on the market (except maybe the new Mate 20 pro, which I haven’t been able to test yet).

I buy a new Smartphone at least every 2 years. My last one was a Samsung S7. Before that I mostly had Samsung Smartphones, but also Sony and HTC. Over the years, I have found that I have special priorities when it comes to cameras. My eyes didn’t get any better over the years, so I wanted to have a smartphone with a fairly large display. After some research and reading many reviews and reviews, I got stuck with the Huawei P20 pro in the color twilight. The color twilight is really awesome. You know these color games from cars with flip flop paint. The included transparent cover makes sure that this color is preserved to a large extent. Without any protection I don’t want to use this valuable piece. The smartphone fits perfectly in the hand and doesn’t slip anymore, because of the otherwise very smooth backside.

Well to the inner values. The Huawei P20 pro is big, yes, but it is not worse in the hand than e.g. my predecessor Samsung S7. It has a great function for one-hand operation. With a swipe of the hand, you can reduce the size of the screen so that it sticks to the bottom left or bottom right. Now you can also reach any area of the screen with your thumb. The display itself is bright and very contrasty. Definitely more visible in bright sunlight than the Samsung S7’s display, compared to the highest brightness. The brightness and visibility of the display is very important for me, because I can navigate with the app komoot on my smartphone even when I’m riding my bike. We are already on to the next topic, the speakers. The sound is good and the volume is excellent. When navigating with the smartphone I hear every instruction much better than with the Samsung S7. Music sounds great even without headphones. It goes without saying that the Huawei P20 pro is super fast. Every app opens immediately and you can easily navigate through the menus. And now to my most important purchase criterion. The camera has an intelligent function. It captures an object at lightning speed and the display shows a small hint what it is. It even differentiates between landscape, plants, sunset and other objects. Even animals are distinguished. It recognizes whether it is a dog or a cat, and automatically adjusts itself to the object accordingly. until now the camera has mastered the task and presented me with great photos. See also my example pictures. At Instagram under dietmar.krug you can find more photos. The photos are indeed much better than the photos of my predecessor Samsung S7. The only advantage of the S7 was that you could trigger the camera with different voice commands. With the S7 camera you could say click or smile. The Huawei P20 pro also has voice control, but this reacts very slowly and only to the word cheese. This is too silly for me and I use the conventional method to take a photo.

Other than that there is really only a small criticism reason. The Huawei P20 pro has no inductive charging, i.e. QI.
But the included charger charges super fast. The battery is also better than the Samsung S7. With the same usage it lasts a few hours longer and I use the smartphone really intensively.

My conclusion For my purposes really the optimal Smartphone. Exterior and interior values of the finest.

The Chinese manufacturer has become more and more a serious competitor for the established providers in the last years. The resemblance to the market leader Apple cannot be denied and also the price should not be lost sight of at a hefty 899 Euros. With the new Huawei P20 Pro, the Chinese developers are orienting themselves on comparable devices from the smartphone upper class and are stirring up the advertising drum with fat campaigns. Those who can also manage with less power or don’t want to dig so deep into their pockets should take a look at the standard version or the affordable P20 Lite. The smartphone makes a very valuable impression visually and in terms of haptics. It lies well in the hand with its low weight and has a high-quality metal casing. The lower home button also contains the device’s fingerprint sensor, but face recognition is also possible. The display is huge with a screen diagonal of 6.1 inch. The resolution corresponds to Full-HD and is impressively detailed due to the OLED technology used. The brightness of the display also adapts optimally to the situation. Compared to the commonly used LCD or TFT displays, the OLED display achieves outstanding contrast values, which is particularly noticeable when taking photos or editing images. The heart of the OLED display is without question the camera with 3 high-quality Leica lenses. The triple version is an innovation on the market and promises impressive results. Each lens is specialised for a specific purpose, and the optimum image is then digitally assembled from all 3 pieces of information. The main camera (middle) delivers an extremely impressive level of detail with 40 megapixels. Under the main camera is a 20 megapixel monochrome sensor. This is particularly sensitive to light due to its increased aperture size and thus improves the level of detail in poor lighting conditions, such as at dusk. Above the main camera is an 8 megapixel telephoto sensor, which can capture subjects with triple zoom due to its longer focal length. The front camera with 24 megapixels is supposed to provide perfect selfies, but unfortunately it didn’t convince me. The soft focus can only supposedly be turned off, the portraits lack sharpness and contrast. What is unfortunately missing is an optical image stabilizer, here the Chinese manufacturer works exclusively with electronic support. From the impression the pictures reach an outstanding sharpness, excellent exposure and a great colour saturation by the interaction of the 3 cameras and the software. The numerous possibilities of adjustment in the pro-mode should be enough even for professional photographers for snapshots. The camera’s aperture mode also allows you to create a very nice bokeh. But one notices that there is a huge amount of post processing in the background. Nearly every picture looks like from an advertising flyer. For those who do not want that, there is only the pro-mode. But this mode tends to kill the user with the numerous possibilities of adjustments. The P20 Pro records videos in Full-HD and with 30 frames per second as standard. However, I’m disappointed by the video quality. In my opinion, the recordings lack sharpness and color fastness. A very nice gimmick, however, is the super slow motion. With it you can record short sequences with 960 frames per second! A gimmick that can lead to very cool shots, if you catch the right moment, which unfortunately is not that easy.

I was really looking forward to this smartphone because the hype about the Huawei P20 Pro completely dazzled me. The low light performance of the camera is phenomenal. Apart from that, the camera of the Huawei P20 Pro is unfortunately absolute junk. Especially the artificial intelligence is everything but smart and messes up almost every photo or video. But before I come to the camera’s points of criticism, I’d like to briefly mention a few general words about the Huawei P20 Pro. The smartphone runs extremely smoothly and the screen is super sharp. The glass back is unfortunately quite susceptible to fingerprints. The fingerprint sensor is simply ingenious, because the screen is unlocked faster than I can look. The face recognition also works great. You can even activate both unlock modes at once. The audio quality is great both when listening to music and on the phone. The battery life is unbeatable among the current flagship smartphones. The battery lasts for 1.5 days even with intensive use. When the battery is empty, it is fully charged again within an hour thanks to the USB-C connection and super charging. Simply ingenious! Unfortunately, the inductive charging function is missing here. What a pity! Now I finally get to the camera. I start with the positive things. The low light performance could not be better. Taking a picture in total darkness from the free hand is no problem. Not even a reflex camera can do that. Also to evaluate positively is the camera pro mode. Anyone who is familiar with photography should rather use this mode, because in contrast to the automatic mode, which is just absolute crap, you can actually take good pictures with this mode. Even the white balance can be adjusted automatically. Perfect. That’s all I find positive. So now to the criticism points of the camera. If you don’t abuse the night mode as HDR mode, the pictures are colorless and low in contrast and look somehow boring. Even my old iPhone 7 took pictures with better contrast and better colors. Did I say colors? Unfortunately, they are not at all realistic in the Huawei P20 Pro. Huawei has probably never heard of a white balance, because it is absolutely terrible. Then there is the so-called bokeh mode in the menu ‘Portrait’. It makes the background look blurred. Unfortunately, Huawei does not use the interaction of all three cameras, but generates the bokeh via the artificial intelligence, thus the software. Well, unfortunately, this completely backfires. Sometimes the blur is really choppy. Not only does it look unnatural, but it also looks totally shitty. Besides the bokeh mode you can also switch on the beauty mode within the ‘Portrait’ menu. Even if it’s set to 0, the skin is smoothed. This might be nice for people who like to look younger, but unfortunately, a lot of image details get lost. But it gets worse from level 1 of the Beauty Mode. If you, too, have a birthmark or scar on your face, it’s guaranteed not to be visible in the saved photo. Thanks Huawei, unfortunately these blemishes belong to me and I don’t want to hide them at all. Even a free program called ‘YouCamMakeup’ is better at smoothing my skin without removing my birthmark from my face. The video functions are also very bad, bad stabilization, faked 960 fps and a constant ISO correction make the videos useless. I therefore give the Huawei P20 Pro only 3 out of 5 points.

I have owned this smartphone since July 2018 and am very happy with it. I thought a lot about whether I should take the 960€ or not, but at that time nothing was enough for this camera and the battery and memory, so I made a contract. I have not regretted it until today. It is a super Smartphone: Very fast, battery lasts mega long (even after 1.5 years still about 2 days with normal use (1 hour camera, 4 hours browsing and Facebook, 1 hour telephony and 1 hour navigation). Besides, the cell phone didn’t even let me down in the cold, the bathtub, the beach and the swimming pool. The battery charges super fast with the Super Charger charger, the speaker is quite okay and in my opinion better than that of many other smartphones, the display is super readable (I only use a simple clear protective foil and not such a bullet-proof glass, which makes the phone even heavier). I have dropped it dozens of times, once I had to have the backside repainted, but that was done really well by the Turkish guy around the corner for 80€ and it still holds today. Cell phone is always in a protective silicone case and for the harder trips in a hybrid case. Games all run smoothly. Phone calls are possible in good quality. The camera is without doubt the absolute highlight of this smartphone. The night shots…a dream! Artificial intelligence is not always an advantage or is confused, but I took the best pictures with this device, also commercially and was never disappointed.

The only negative points for me are:

The glass backside
The missing headphone port
The fingerprint sensor, which I use at the same time to switch between menus as a multifunctional screen and it often happens that you accidentally end an action, which is sometimes annoying. But I really wanted the sensor on the front, because when I’m cycling or driving a car the sensor on the back is just stupid. Otherwise the multifunction of the fingerprint sensor has only advantages and is very comfortable. The hammer would have been a lighted edge on this one, because sometimes I can only guess where it is.

Conclusion: the Huawei P20 pro was one of the best smartphones available on the market at its time and still performs its faithful services under Emui 9.1.0 and Android 9.0.

Edit, if it is well cared for, like on the first day: I would not buy the successor. What are these rounded display edges for? What a bummer!

First look : Both the packaging and the contents are up to the standard of a top smartphone of our time. But there is a little bonus in the packaging ! In addition to the mobile phone, the charger cable and the headphones that you can always find at every manufacturer, HUAWAI adds a high quality cover to the mobile phone, which protects it well and does not look clumsy. Huawai is also thinking about the front and delivers the phone with a foil. (TOLLER SERVICE) Quality: The Smartphone itself has a Top quality, however, this might not be also not lower there it the same price as comparable mobile phone manufacturers in the segment has. The processing of the Smartphone and the additional parts (headphones, charging cable…) is very good and high-quality. Getting started: This one is very easy, is intuitively well thought out and everything runs smoothly and ultra fast. Also for a NOT ANDROID lover easy to handle. Functions: Unlike other manufacturers I could discover really helpful and interesting options with the Huawai Pro. Because these are very far reaching I recommend a short Youtube video which explains all the options in detail. there are a lot of small hacks available that you will love! CAMERA (for me this was the most important point) Meanwhile mobile phones offer nothing new. Only certain factors like speed of the system, the fluent working and the camera are updated regularly. That the Huawai has a top quality for the camera was always praised but I was not satisfied with the camera in all points. We tested all other top phones in the price range and unfortunately the Huawai did not always perform well. Yes, the automatic setting of the camera is interesting BUT unfortunately sometimes not quite fitting so that the automatic setting of the other manufacturers was usually better, especially when it came to people photography. Where the Huawai was better in any case was the object photography, pictures in the evening or night and especially when zooming. The video recordings were comparable with the other manufacturers equally good. Only with the slow motion function I was very disappointed. Getting it to fit so that the slow motion is in the desired position was unfortunately very complicated and awkward. All in all Huawai does a good job and the phone is definitely on top of its class. More bonus points: -Super fast face recognition -Extremely many helpful hacks for the use -Super fast system -Android typical very stable -Integrated memory is completely sufficient but unfortunately not expandable -TOP quality -Camera very good except for some points I am satisfied !

I bought the Huawei P20 Pro mainly because of the much praised camera. After a lot of trying out, I can clearly say that the P20 Pro has the best camera I have ever had on a smartphone. The auto-photo functions work so well that a layman can take very good photos. If you prefer to do a lot of adjustments yourself, you can do this in the manual settings of the camera.
But the Huawei P20 Pro is also a high-quality, recommendable smartphone in all other respects.
The workmanship is flawless, the display is brilliant and the sound is unique, because Dolby Atmos is on board.
The sound through the speakers is clear and powerful, they offer full stereo sound. The acoustics are also convincing during phone calls.
The scope of delivery includes a quick-charging power supply and a transparent cover. In addition, you’ll find Huaweis standard earplugs and a USB-C-to-jack adapter.
The P20 Pro is IP67-rated and protected against water and dust. For example, a heavy rain shower does not bother the smartphone.
With 128 GB memory, the Huawei P20 Pro offers a very large internal memory. However, this is not expandable. The P20 Pro has no SD card slot. Instead, the P20 Pro is dual-SIM capable, with both nano-SIM card slots supporting LTE.
If you use the P20 Pro in a WLAN network, this is possible according to the standards 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac.
The fingerprint sensor on the Huawei P20 Pro is located in the home button on the front. This unlocks very quickly and reliably. However, the fingerprint scanner can also be used for control if you want to do without the standard preset on-screen buttons. The Home button can be used to navigate back or to the home screen, for example. But the device can also be unlocked with the face. Here Huawei uses the normal front camera.
With the 4,000 mAh strong battery you can get through the day well. Unfortunately the battery cannot be charged wirelessly. However, the P20 Pro with the SuperCharge function can be recharged very quickly via USB-C cable.

I was allowed to become the proud owner of the Huawei P20 Pro in black. The P20 pro was the first choice for me after all the advertising hype about the camera. After unpacking, I was a bit disillusioned with the dimensions of the P20 Pro, as I was used to and spoiled by my Huawei Mate 9. This one is almost 1 cm wider than the P20 Pro. Now for the test: The reaction speed of the finger sensor when unlocking is really very fast and unlocks the phone in milliseconds. The unlocking via face recognition is also convincing, 50 attempts and no error, even if someone else tests it and looks similar. Very convincing. In terms of screen brightness, the P20’s display goes a bit beige and doesn’t have the nice bright white as in its predecessors. What I find very interesting are the folders explicitly for Google, Tools and Top Apps, where you can put together your own apps for each folder. This definitely has advantages for a faster finding of the apps and there is no more confusion. The data connection is constant and fast when surfing the internet outside of WLAN networks. The problem is the battery, however, it discharges as fast or as slowly as my Mate 9’s, so I can’t confirm that the battery lasts extremely long. I am often and often on the Internet and I also work on my smartphone with videos every day. The battery is ready for recharging when I work in the afternoon. The built-in processor and memory is blazing fast at processing and working on the smartphone. The highlight of the P20 Pro is of course its camera, which I can definitely confirm. When you shoot at 10 megapixel resolution, e.g. with a 9x zoom, there’s really hardly any loss in the picture. The zoom function is unfortunately not possible in the 40 megapixel setting, but the 10x zoom leaves nothing to be desired. Panorama pictures are unfortunately only recorded up to 180 degrees. Conclusion of the test, which is only just beginning, is: Very nice, well thought-out and high-quality smartphone. The speed of opening the app and working on the phone is fun and reflects the good quality of Huawei. For those who like to take pictures, the P20 Pro is an absolute must. For me, the only drawback is the somewhat small width – size ratio of the display and the battery power.

Pros: Great camera, AI camera assistant, Dual SIM, long battery life, appealing design Contra: No memory card slot, no headphone jack, no replaceable battery, no wireless charging Conclusion: 4 years ago, nobody associated the name Huawei with top smartphones. This has changed in the last few years. This year, the company has set out to revolutionize smartphone photography. With the P20 Pro, Huawei presents for the first time a smartphone with 3 camera lenses and 40MP. The company promises a ‘renaissance of photography’ on its product page. My expectations of the smartphone were correspondingly high. Beside the 40MP main camera there is a 20MP monochrome camera and a 8MP telephoto camera with triple zoom on the back of the smartphone. The effort pays off in my opinion. The results are impressive, both in daylight and twilight the quality of the photos is outstanding. Unfortunately Huawei does without an optical image stabilizer. The P20 Pro can also convince in Full HD videos and cuts a very good figure. The electronic image stabilizer ensures that the fixed object remains still in the picture even with small movements of the smartphone. Unfortunately, the stabilization mode isn’t available at a higher frame rate/resolution. But the highlight is the camera assistant with artificial intelligence. Only this one provides really great pictures. The AI analyses the subject in real time and adjusts the image settings immediately. The P20 Pro is very large with a 6.1′ screen diagonal and doesn’t necessarily fit in every pocket. On the other hand, the detail display is excellent and even in strong sunlight the display is still easy to read. Of course you can also make phone calls and other things with the P20 Pro. The voice quality is very good. The processor works at eye level with other top smartphones and applications can be started in a flash. With a battery power of 4.000 mAh, I can achieve a runtime of up to 2 days with a few optimizations. Unfortunately, the P20 Pro cannot be charged wirelessly via a Qi charging station. One looks in vain for a jack plug. The trend towards wireless music enjoyment can apparently no longer be stopped. A memory card slot is unfortunately also in short supply. Despite some weaknesses, the P20 Pro convinced me. I can recommend the smartphone to anyone looking for a device with a very good camera quality. Apart from great functions, the smartphone is in any case an optical eye-catcher.

I never put my HUAWEI P20 Pro down. I am not easy to convince when it comes to smartphones. But this device meets all my requirements in terms of workmanship, technical finesse and usability. The black P20 Pro is impeccably crafted, everything feels like a single piece of work. The haptics more than do justice to an upper class smartphone. It guided me quickly and efficiently through the setup menu and was fully operational after 30 minutes. Memory and Dual Sim The P20 Pro has 128GB memory and 6GB RAM. It’s a pity that the memory can’t be expanded via MicroSD. But I gladly do without it, because I use an O2 and a telecom sim in the P20 Pro. Both cards are constantly logged into the network. With the mobile data I can change within seconds. Battery and performance 100% charged in 90 minutes, that’s great. With 2 SIM cards I get one and a half days battery life, with one SIM card the battery lasts for almost two days. With the Kirin 970 HUAWEI has achieved the balance between performance and energy saving. There is nothing jerking, even with fast games no streaks on the display. Awesome! Camera and display I am most enthusiastic about the camera and display. AI-supported the focus is very fast, the pictures are always very detailed and the colors are crisp. The 3x optical zoom and image stabilization ensure that there is very little ‘waste’ in the photos. The display is razor-sharp and angle-stable, and the colour fidelity is excellent. Fingerprint scanner and face recognition The fingerprint scanner is extremely fast and accurate. I don’t use face recognition, because it is unfortunately only done in 2D and can be outsmarted with a Selfie. HUAWEI Easy Projection Now I always have my PC with me. Quickly connect the mouse and keyboard via Bluetooth and with a USB-C to HDMI adapter, the P20 Pro becomes a simple desktop PC on any HDMI-compatible screen. The performance is also top. Conclusion The purchase was worthwhile. The HUAWEI P20 Pro is a real pleasure, a multifunctional device in the upper class. It replaces a high-quality camera, a simple PC and is also an excellent smartphone.

Just the thought of having bought this cucumber cell phone fills me with horror. A WLAN that only had to fight with aborts. A milky and dark display, which did not have great colors. Printers that were once network recognized and suddenly were no longer there. Google Cloud Print was completely blocked. When listening to music, the error always came from Hi…?? and the sound was once again gone. An only absolutely annoying phone.
The fingerprint scanner doesn’t work with slightly wet or just freshly pinched hands.
You sometimes have to grab the display four or five times with dry fingers to get this cucumber phone to react. This software in this phone is a nogo. Another nogo is that you can not use normal SD memory and you have to use a specially for Huawei made nano memory for completely inflated prices. Also the sound from the loudspeakers of the cell phone is very quiet.
Calls broke off all at once. Under UMTS connections suddenly the data connections broke down and the page was no longer loaded. I would like to rate this phone with zero stars.
This is the biggest piece of electronic waste I have ever bought.
The hottest thing is that now the customer of only being fooled and an update to the latest Google Android versions is slowed down here.
Comical. I sold this chick cell phone and bought a Samsung Galaxy S 10+ and look at all the applications running like clockwork. Also the Google steals printer was found without a big setup and prints from the mobile network, which was stopped by the Chinese immediately with the Huawei mega junk cell phone.
You should be aware when you buy this phone, that due to the Google blockade on reasonable updates the prices for used devices will fall into the bottomless and you won’t get anything more for the device here in a few months. If I were you, I would completely ignore Huawei products and switch to Samsung, Apple, etc. products as an alternative. Here you will have much more fun than with this electronic waste.

Normally I was always a loyal IPhone customer, but when I was allowed to be part of the campaign, I was really happy. I am the typical mobile phone user, social networks, WhatsApp and co. I use every day. With the new P20 Pro, the photos for Instagram are now razor sharp. But now I come to the actual review and the first point Design &amp, processing: The design of the P20 Pro leaves absolutely nothing to be desired. Due to the built-in glass on the back and the huge, almost completely borderless display on the front, it looks very high quality. The processing leaves nothing to be desired. You won’t find a single gap, noses or anything else. Software: The software installed on the Huawei P20 Pro, consisting of Android 8.1 and the EMUI added by Huawei, is very slim and works very efficiently. In my opinion, the only shortcoming is the high number of system apps that Huawei preinstalls. Unfortunately, these apps cannot be removed from the device. This is a bit annoying, especially for the storage space, but at 128GB it’s still bearable. Camera: The camera produces breathtaking photos &amp, videos. It often reminds me of photos from my reflex camera. The AI, which for example takes care of the depth of field, works outstandingly well. Especially I like the slow motion pictures in 960p. Awesome! Haptics &amp, handling: The device fits quite well in the hand for its size. If I had a 5.5 inch mobile phone up to now, the 0.6 inch more are noticeable in any case, but can just be operated well. If one does not use a case, the device is a little slippery due to the glass surface. But as I always use a case anyway, this is no problem for me. The fingerprint sensor works very well and quickly. The unlocking with face recognition also works very reliably. I’m absolutely in love with the Always-On Display function! Conclusion: Grandiose mobile phone of the premium class with absolutely breathtaking camera. All around well thought-out concept with an almost perfect implementation. Despite minor criticism points, full score from me and the test mark Very Good –

I am a bit disappointed with the camera. I have previously photographed with the Nokia 808 pureview and the Nokia lumia 1020 and both of them provided much more detail. The 40 megapixels of the p20 pro are clearly digitally extrapolated. After all, the resolution is the decisive selling point. The thing may have 20 megapixels, but never in a lifetime 40. The images are – like on the current Iphone – artificially digitally oversharpened and the contours overdrawn. But the colors work well and the noise is kept within limits. The contrasts are a bit too strong, but can be reduced with Photoshop.
Otherwise the p20 pro is a normal Android phone with the usual light and shadow sides. The Lumias were always accused of lacking program variety – after all, they had a pre-installed microsoft-office with almost complete functionality on board. With the Android apps, there is hardly anyone who does without a location system. The last Lumia cell phones could be recharged by induction, while the p20 pro has to be connected to the cable.
The P20 pro probably still has the best smartphone camera on the market today and further advantages of the device are the 6Gb working spokes and the 4000 mAh battery that easily lasts for two days.
Conclusion: not bad, but I expected a bit more in total.

Supplement: after three months my disappointment has not subsided. My old Nokia Lumia 1020 clearly takes sharper photos with more balanced colors and contrasts. I will not grow old with the P20 pro. The comparison tests where the pictures of the p20 pro were sharper than those of the lumia 1020 are all fake. But in bad light the p20 pro camera is clearly superior. The software is of course faster and more reliable with the more modern device.

I’ve been using the P20 Pro for almost a month now and had plenty of opportunity to test it in everyday life. I was especially excited about the camera with triple lens and AI support. Even an enthusiastic hobby photographer doesn’t always want to have the bulky reflex camera with him and still be able to take pictures that will look good in a photo book later on. Right out of the box, you notice how noble the P20 looks and how high-quality it feels. I find the design very successful and the phone fits well in the hand. The camera sticks out a little from the case, but I’m happy to accept that with the excellent picture quality. The glass back looks very noble and, contrary to my expectations, doesn’t seem to be prone to scratches. The display makes a very good impression on me. The OLED panel provides excellent contrasts and great colors. In bright sunlight and with a stable viewing angle, the display scores particularly well. The Notch solution is certainly a matter of taste, but I would like to emphasize one point that Huawei has solved particularly well in my opinion: The area to the left and right of the front camera is only used as a display when it really makes sense. If one looks for example at pictures or a video, the area is switched to black and thus one does not see any disturbing notch that protrudes into the picture and/or the video. The absolute highlight is of course the camera. For me, there are three aspects in which the camera outshines the P20’s competitors: – Shooting in low light conditions works great for a smartphone camera. It can take sharp shots of several seconds of exposure time from the hand and generates little noise. – It is the first smartphone camera with a usable zoom. – You get nice pictures with depth of field. However, it must be mentioned that the algorithms do not always work perfectly and the blur does not look clean in every picture. I have a lot of fun with this phone and can absolutely recommend it.

First of all, dear Amazon people, as a long time customer I would have liked to order here, but with all the rather confusing offers for the Hauwei P20 pro, I didn’t find the German Dual-Sim version in twilight. I wonder what to look for on a German website for international versions or even asian versions etc. I bought it at a stationary store.
The part unfortunately follows the nonsensical trend of having a glass back (the P10 was aluminum!) and, like the stupid trend, also has no headphone jack.
Yes, the headphone jack, a headphone with USB-C port is included, also an adapter for normal analog headphones. What should I say to this? At the P10 a Rock-Mula headphone (5 pieces from Amazon) is connected with a cable and the sound is just great, listen to everything from Rock to Pop to Classical and it’s a pleasure.
The P20 pro with fails all along the line. The included headphones are junk and the adapter is also junk.
For music lovers a disappointment.
The rest is first class, workmanship, optics, photo quality.
My overall conclusion is that my P10 is in need of repair, the P20 pro is in the bay and I sincerely hope that the P30 will bring a proper 3.5mm jack with a proper amplifier, otherwise it will be over with Huawei in the medium term.
All in all, however, for anyone who can handle such a sensitive part with care and does not want to compromise on audio quality, this is an absolutely recommendable part.
For me, however, the overall distance to the P10 is not really big and not worth it.

First of all, the performance data is good and the camera can do a lot, but:

– To do without a separate headphone jack hurts a lot in this price segment, if you are forced to use fiddly adapters to be able to continue using your audio equipment.
– It is just as annoying for me that the standard Micro USB is no longer supported, because it means having to buy a set of new additional cables. If the standard Micro USB does not end this bad habit?
– No memory card: With 128 GB internal probably not necessary, but sometimes still practical.
– e.g. if the Bluetooth pairing does not work at the moment ….
– The synchronization software for Windows 10 runs unstable and produces popups all the time. This problem has never been experienced with my Sony Xperia before.
– The settings for silent/silent / volume and do not disturb are not very intuitive and nested. So it can happen that you turn off the sound and open an app that suddenly starts buzzing full laundry because it requires a separate volume control.
– The LED for displaying notifications is extremely small and inconspicuous. It is also not reliable: I’ve often had new messages without the LED displaying this.
– Conversely, notifications are often still displayed even though you have opened and read the messages several times. Notifications then simply get stuck in the display and cannot be wiped away.
– Similar problems occur with other controls, which sometimes react, sometimes not. It sometimes seems as if I have – despite updates – a beta version in my hands.
Conclusion: The camera can do something, but compared to my former cell phone I am disappointed to have to accept so many weak points at this price )-:

I also owned a huawei before, but the camera was disappointing. Luckily I did not have to change the handling, the fingerprint sensor still in the front, that was important to me. Unlocking by fingerprint works reliably, but FaceUnlock is also a nice feature in case your fingers get dirty. The display is nice and big, in fact a touch too big for me, as I can’t reach the top with one-handed operation. I’m also not a fan of the Notch, but fortunately this can be switched off and thus has a continuous border/bar at the top. Obviously, there was very little space left for an LED due to the size of the display, which looks a bit squeezed in the upper center. Two other points that bother me are the missing headphone output and the missing possibility to use a micro SD card. Both are probably due to the compact design. Personally, I would prefer a slightly larger phone with these features. The missing loudspeaker connection is solved with the help of an adapter (USB-C to jack), optionally you can of course use Bluetooth loudspeakers. Both for me cumbersome, because I neither own Bluetooth headphones nor do I always want to take an additional adapter with me. I miss the normal connection. Despite all the criticism, I am very enthusiastic about the Huawei P20Pro. Because the most important purchase argument for me, the camera, is just great. The night mode takes good pictures freehand in the darkest night. The normal snapshots are clear and sharp. The various setting options help to get a decent photo in every situation. Finally I can leave my camera at home without being afraid of missing a nice photo. The battery life is great, I hope it stays that way, the battery is unfortunately not replaceable. Also positive is the scope of delivery. The P20Pro comes with an adapter for headphones, screen protector and silicone case. My conclusion: an all-round successful smartphone that inspires.

+ regular updates Fixes, security and new features (in 6 months at least 5 of them)

– the volume of notifications can’t be adjusted separately from the volume of calls
– the annoying reminder after Huawei-ID registration can’t be turned off (I don’t need a user account with Huawei, thanks)
– alarm-night snooze function (wake up in 5 minutes) makes the phone vibrate twice, which can’t be turned off and is annoying
– partly too aggressive app resource management: z. e.g. my calendar widget did not update until I explicitly allowed it to run in the background, the push notifications of some apps are suppressed by default

I am a passionate smartphone user, don’t know much about technology and am not a gamer. I don’t use the Dual-SIM function. I have never owned a huawei and have been loyal to a single brand for years. But now I have cheated. My last mobile phone was a 2016 flagship. The design is well done, the smartphone looks high quality. The display size is perfect for me. The setup was relatively easy, in no time I had my photos, documents and apps on the new smartphone. There wasn’t much getting used to it, it’s user friendly. I’m very happy with the OLED display brightness, the ‘eyeshot’ mode is great. The Huawei is used intensively 7 hours a day (online or music streaming), the rest of the time it is in standby. The battery lasts a whole day. My old smartphone (1,5 years old) I had to charge every 6-8 hours. That you can’t charge inductively/wireless charging doesn’t bother me. I think the stereo speakers sound very good. Included was an adapter for 3.5 mm jacks and headphones. The apps start immediately, I could not notice any delays. The face recognition and the fingerprint sensor work perfectly. I am thrilled with the screenshot scroll function. The delivery includes a pre-mounted display foil and a silicone cover. I was able to test the Leica triple camera at a basketball tournament at the weekend. I had taken a lot of pictures of active movements. Not one picture is blurred. Also the videos turned out well. I am very satisfied with the selfies via front camera. It’s a pity that there is only an internal memory of 128 GB, which can’t be expanded/no Micro SD slot available. The HuaweiP20pro has a small notification LED, which doesn’t disturb at all at night and doesn’t light up the room. During the day you don’t see the blinking. Conclusion: The advantages clearly outweigh and therefore I will keep it in any case and recommend it.

After I destroyed my beloved Huawei P10 lite with a lot of water, I had to get a new phone. Since I am a Huawei fan it was clear that there is no other brand. Also the decision for the P20 pro was made quickly, so prices compared and then ordered here on Amazon. Although I didn’t have a premium shipping, the phone was with me after two days. But after setting up the phone I was already disillusioned – the front camera didn’t work, the camera app always hangs up and the face recognition didn’t work either. After discussions with two customer service employees I had at least one solution how I could get a new phone for the same price (which changes drastically every day), even though the shipping was not done by Amazon itself. So send the phone back and order the new one.
One day later it was already there (as always admirable), but the anticipation didn’t last long… See pictures. Although the phone should be NEW, it was so badly packed that I was about to send it back. Besides that the cell phone had a scratch on the lower backside of the box… But since I needed a cell phone, I tested if it works this time and see there… All is well.br>br>I will keep it despite the miserable packaging and the scratch.br>br>br>To the cell phone itself I can’t say anything negative, so far I am more than satisfied with Huawei.

Before I have to mention that my excessive hobby is photography, I currently use about a dozen different cameras, take over 30 thousand photos per year. I have always avoided smartphones, they are simply too bad to perform well on a UHD monitor, but I have dared to buy a P20pro from Amazon because of the many positive reports on the net, the phone gets the full score for me, it simply inspires me, the look, the operation, the fast computer, even enough to watch football matches from the net. The sound is great, also the two included headphones. br>The P20 with the handycover included, very well done Huawei! br> br> br>The camera built into the P20pro, I have competed against my smallest camera, a 1 camera Canon G7X II.
I took the same pictures under the same conditions, but the result is sobering, I will not use the P20pro for taking pictures in the future, the results on my 4K monitor were from just in case of an emergency to just creepy, completely messed up. Even the small 500€ Canon had delivered much better comparison photo.
The mini-computer gets 5 stars from me ,the built-in Leica camera one star, so in total 3 stars.

I’ve had the Huawei P10 before, so I could draw a good comparison with its big successor, the Huawei P20 pro. The Huawei P20 pro with its 4000 mAh has a very good endurance to get through the day. Despite its size, I can still operate it with one hand. However, it should not be even bigger. The performance of the device is similar to its predecessor. The device boots up quickly and applications load quickly. The real hammer, however, is the Leica triple camera with AI. If you leave the resolution at 10 MP, you have an up to 5x hybrid zoom, which is really sufficient for snapshots and holiday photos. If you set the resolution to the highest level, i.e. 40 MP, then you don’t have the hybrid zoom anymore, but the resolution and quality of the photos are of outstanding quality. A must for every hobby photographer. The sound of the device is also really very good. What I already noticed with the P10 at that time, the device has a screen protection foil on it ex works and in the scope of delivery there is a transparent rubber cover to protect the device. The internal memory with 128 GB should be sufficient. Unfortunately, the memory can’t be expanded. However, one has the possibility to use two SIM cards in the device. All in all, I am really very satisfied with the Huawei P20 pro and can really recommend it to everyone.

Excellently processed and equipped. Excellent material selection and feel! The EMUI user interface is versatile and fluid as usual. The camera takes photos in a quality and sharpness that was previously unattainable, and which need not shy away from large-format viewing on TV. But- why does the upper class renounce the so important possibility of memory expansion with a Micro-SD card? Here it is completely irrelevant how large the internal fixed memory is. It is much more a matter of simply and securely storing irretrievable photos and sometimes laboriously created files on the memory card. As is well known, a smartphone does not last as long as a memory card, so that all files and photos would be lost after two to a maximum of three years in the event of premature failure or sale, if not backed up in a cloud. As a rule and in practice, hardly any backups are made on the PC in everyday use of smartphones that could at least partially compensate for the lack of memory card functionality! What even cheap smartphones from Honor and Huawei have, as now left out? What’s the point? Card out and into the new device with all existing, often hundreds to thousands of files, does not work anymore. Samsung, for its part, has taken the criticism of this practice seriously with the S6 and has fortunately reintegrated the micro SD usability from the high-quality S7 to S9 etc. onwards. These smartphones also have large internal memories. Therefore, and only therefore, I will not give any recommendation…

Shipping as usual super fast and safe.

It comes with a bulletproof glass which is already on the display and there is also a cover. This I still use after about 6 months and can not complain.

Android is always kept up to date and the system is very slim, so I mean that there are not so many pre-installed applications as other manufacturers. So it is also very fast which can also be due to the 6GB RAM 🙂 . I almost always have about 2,5 – 3GB free RAM so there are never performance problems.
Games are really no problem for the device. Since it has no Courved screen, which I find better, there are also no problems when selecting the right buttons..

The camera:
The camera is compared to other manufacturers around worlds better, straight sunsets, dark shots, candles, backgrounds and colors are so much better than others.

To the battery:
With games/social networks etc. it lasts about 3-4 days. If I hardly use it, so only messages, then 7 days are no problem.

I had a Xiaomi grade 5 before and bought the Huawei because of the allegedly better camera. Well…

Emui is a clear step backwards in all aspects compared to Miui. While Xiaomi fixes bugs in no time, Huawei doesn’t get a single update, although several bugs are known. The AI or NPU is simply a joke…a pity about the wasted transistors. There is absolutely nothing to notice about the NPU…oh yes, one exception: the camera. I switched off the AI immediately, otherwise I would have gotten eye cancer…
The camera is a laugh…at least the absolutely lousy software. With Open Camera you can save a lot of things.
What is so bad? The Huawei Jpeg Engine is pretty much the worst thing I have ever seen. Artifacts without end. Then no choice of compression strength. Also saturation or sharpness or noise reduction…nothing configurable. Xiaomi can do that much better.

Then the reception…also here the note was better in everything, better Wlan reception, better 2g and 3g reception…

The fingerprint sensor also works relatively slow, at least compared to note 5. It’s only tenths of a second, but you can tell.

What’s positive…I honestly can’t think of anything. Fortunately my wife has the Pocofone…it’s a real price/performance hammer.

I did not activate the face recognition and so I cannot rate it! Otherwise it is the typical high quality of a Huawei – product! Great haptics, high-quality materials, super technology! br>What feels like metal, IS metal. Great cell phone technology! Much better performance in cell phone reception than with my business cell phone of a brand provider! The photo quality is not to be topped! The battery performance is as usual with Huawei far better than the competition. The EMUI – surface simplifies the operation and the tidying up on the cell phone enormously. In addition, one feels immediately familiar with the cell phone, if one has previously called a Huawei his own! br> br>The price-performance ratio is unbeatable with Huawei! br> br> br>For the performance offered by Huawei, other manufacturers demand at least twice as much!

I have owned this smartphone for over a year now and I am still very excited about it. With my previous smartphone it often happened after a few months that a new model of my own brand or the competition was quickly better and therefore the fun of owning a smartphone was gone. This is not the case here. It is still fun to own and operate this Smartphone. Advantages on my part are: Huawei comes with a protective cover and already has a display foil on it from the factory (I changed this only a few days ago, it will last as long as it lasts!!) Also, a SUPER camera! The AI often/almost always recognizes what it is photographing and adjusts accordingly, so that you get great end results. The same goes for the Pro Mode, where you can adjust the camera individually. Furthermore: THE BATTERY – even after one year of use I still make it through the day – no need to use Powerbank. In addition, the memory is very sufficient – I have never really deleted files and still I have not even used half of the memory, despite numerous apps, videos, images (especially the WA groups spam images) and even Netflix and Prime Offline downloads in best quality. So all in all – a real little all-round talent for hobby photographers

The mobile phone is well known by now. However, I am very enthusiastic about the air time of the battery. Despite YouTube, music, phone calls or surfing, the battery lasts the whole day without problems. Even the photos in the dark or at dusk are bright and pin sharp thanks to the image optimization. The setting options range from focal length, ISO exposure to shutter speed. So the phone can easily keep up with expensive digital cameras and SLR cameras. There are various picture programs that make the settings themselves or the PRO mode in which you have all the freedom and setting options. The internal memory is not expandable but more than sufficient. In addition, you can use the Huawei Suite to automatically save your images when you connect to your PC and recharge them at the same time. The operating system is currently the new Android 9.0. games and apps run smoothly so that even PUBG is no problem. Whether Mirrorshare, Nearby, Bluetooth or WLan Sync, with the P20 Pro no problem. Meanwhile there are already 2 in our household and replace our Samsungs.

This is by far the best cell phone I have had so far. Even Apple can’t reach it. It is compact. It works perfectly in all situations. The camera is perfect. And the battery is awesome. When used daily with games and co. my battery lasts almost 2 days. I really only charge my phone every other day and I’ve had it for almost a year now. It is really top and only recommendable. Everyone I know in my area who owns an iPhone is now convinced of this great phone. Especially since Android gives you much more possibilities. My friend and I both play the same game! He iPhone and I Huawei… I have much more gadgets available through the play store. Cell phone is simply top. I cannot say anything else

I had the luck to test both the P20 Pro and the IPhone Xs Max for a few days. And as a long time IPhone owner I can only say, what Huawei delivers is great. Load quickly! 128Gb memory! Both the front and back camera impressed me in direct comparison with the IPhone Xs Max. The menu structure is self-explanatory and easy to use. Fingerprint sensor 100%. Face recognition even in the dark is no problem so 100%…

In short…I know both smartphones and purely from camera, haptics, sound (eg. music), the P20 Pro rocks completely! But the software of the IPhone is a bit more intelligent.
Despite that the Pro convinces me in all important points and is my favorite.

Even though the p30 pro just fills the shelves, I was able to get the P20 pro for a good price. I own it for a good 2 weeks and am completely at peace. Had the P9 before, which also did a very good job until I sold it. The camera really impressed me. The performance is on a very good level. The housing is protected by a cover, which is a pity that HUAWEI did not use aluminium. On the back you can see every little fingerprint. And no jack plug can be a nuisance. But the battery really lasts long. After a big bike tour with headphones and music on and 200 pictures the battery has lost only 30 percent. So I can also recommend the predecessor. Greetings

everything runs very smoothly. Screen is perfect(oled).
camera is still top class and in my eyes can easily keep up with the p30 pro. What also amazes me is that the p20 pro beats the iPhone 11pro by far. The only thing I sometimes miss is a wide angle mod but with panorama function to compensate. After one year i sold my dslr:)

to Apple: please please finally build a usable camera into the iPhone, then i would change immediately, but as long as the camera of a 2 years old phone beats the current flakship iphone 11 pro by far…. no thanks:(

Very very cool camera. The only reason for me to buy this smartphone, now that the successor model is available and you can afford it…

Shooting is great, you can shoot in the dark, nothing to complain about. My whole hand hurts, the thumbs are hardly enough to operate the whole surface. The device is also very heavy.

The setup is also not that easy, because there are a lot of translation errors in the menus and some functions are hard to find or retrieve.

The many approvals and permissions you give to apps during the setup process can make your head ache…

You have to know what you do or want and don’t want to do.
So only for experienced users…

I used this telephone for a long time, but when I went there, I had to order it before me at Bol oid. I put what I had watched on, beautiful telephones, markings in it. Do it and keep it for a long time. After having had some problems, keep in mind that the android has been updated several times after 9 and that there is a tendency to change the settings, I have a tendency to go back to factory settings and everything else on new places as long as there is nothing new, but that it should be different. I have taken a little bit of advice and inspiration, and I like to take pictures.

I am actually very satisfied. TOP photos, TOP videos, performant – here and there a bit jerky compared to the HTC U11. AI function of the camera gives good results.

What disappoints me though:
I have a display protection foil on it and a SiliconBumper – so the cell phone should be well protected.
I fell from about 1m height on snow(!, but a little bit solid snow) at about -5° outside temperature.
And I already broke the display. The glass was intact, but underneath there was a hairline crack near the fingerprint sensor and the display is practically dead.
That can’t be! I have been using smartphones for years. Manufacturers (Apple, Motorola, Nokia etc.) None of these Smartphones had such a small fall.
Repair costs –&gt, 250 EUR and maybe more.

This is my 2nd try with the p20 pro The first device fell down with me and was immediately on the display gerissen?. Thanks to 1&amp,1 it was immediately ersetzt?? Which in retrospect proved to be a stroke of luck. Because with the 1. the camera was rather mau… Often blurred and all in all defective. With the 2nd device the camera is simply fantastic and unbelievably good. To the rest I can say Akku Bärenstark performance also super, weight perhaps a little heavy. Except for the extremely fragile display now a Super Smartphone. However, I would not hesitate to give the device back. If the camera takes blurred pictures…….

I have always used Samsung before 🙂
Because I like to take pictures and Samsung had the best camera for me.
After thinking a lot about whether I should buy the Galaxy S9 or the Huawei P20 Pro, I decided to buy this smartphone here 🙂
And I am really excited, I have NEVER held a smartphone in my hands with such a great camera.
