With Galaxy Fold, Samsung was the first manufacturer to take the step towards foldable devices and more or less failed. There were problems with the display, the device itself wasn’t really practical and the outdoor display was too small on the one hand and not aesthetically appealing enough on the other. But now there is the second design, so to speak – a different form factor and at the same time well known: the folding mobile phone is back! Only this time the display is completely continuous. Samsung has also learnt a lot: the hinge has been improved and the frame has been adapted so that the display is better protected in combination with integrated magnets. In addition, there is a transparent protective cover for both parts of the device, which interestingly enough also has special adhesive strips – probably to keep dirt and dust out. As if that wasn’t enough, Samsung now also warns very clearly against incorrect use of the display! Yes, you can see and feel the wrinkle, but the human hand also has wrinkles – otherwise it is physically impossible to bend or close them. But this wrinkle is only really noticeable with dark backgrounds on the display and bright ambient light. Most of the time it is covered by normal content. Scrolling is not really disturbed either. You’re a bit careful at first, but nothing happens unless you scratch your fingernail across the display. Apart from that, the smartphone is up to date with all known current features. Somewhat disappointing, in my opinion, is the picture quality of the main camera on the back when using the digital zoom. Such pictures get very crisp very quickly, but this is also known. It’s just a pity that an optical zoom was obviously omitted. Again, many people criticize the too small outdoor display, but I don’t think it needs to be bigger. It shows small notifications, the time and other quick keys, such as for the music player, so that you don’t have to open the device all the time – a bit like an old mp3 player. Besides, with a large outdoor display I would again be too worried about its integrity. But this way, the main display is protected without any protective foil or the like. P.S.: because there was some controversy about the display material, I can say: yes, it does contain real, foldable glass, albeit very, very thin and protected by a layer of plastic, but Samsung didn’t lie here.
I can only recommend the smartphone. Fits perfectly in your pocket and when opened it is a huge smartphone. I don’t understand why Samsung used this tiny display and why they didn’t use the latest Snapdragon, but the 845 plus is more than enough, I would have expected it in this price range anyway. Yes, the display is super sharp, but I have a very thin scratch which is not noticeable. I also had a scratch in my Iphone x within a week, although it wouldn’t be scratch-prone. Buy the device, the Samsung gives you one year of Samsung Care after registration. Buy
I can’t understand the negative reviews regarding the display. Of course there is a slight bulge in the middle, how else should you bend the display without damaging it? Sending it back for this reason is a bit surprising. Even scratches on the display don’t just happen. You really have to work on the display with enormous pressure. It’s called touchscreen and not punchscreen. I use it for several weeks now, every day. No scratches, no damage or other problems. It’s just a great device.
It feels like a hand flatterer when it is folded together. Technically it is equal to other mobile phones, except for water the phone is water shy. The display on the flap could be bigger. Great is the protective cover that comes with it. The price is correct.
…, Samsung has once again outdone itself, I already have the Fold and now for my wife the Z Flip and we are both totally thrilled! Everyone, first test it yourself before you start complaining, because the net is full of them! It is fast and super handy!
Is samsung serious about promoting a folding screen as the innovation? Folded together, it’s a fat brick to boot. Technically no added value to a s10 or s20. This gimmick will have no future.
Super great phone. Small and handy but still all functions. Top. Totally fun. I use it several days now, every day. No scratches, no damages or other problems. Just a great device.
Certainly expensive, high quality. However, the battery is very weak…For the price there are many better mobile phones. What is great is that you can fold it.
So nice and small this mobile phone and yet when opened it is super big. Simply ingenious is from Samsung, unfolded longer than the note 9 but a bit narrower
I always had the problem that the phones were too big for my pocket. With this the problem is solved. Super technology. Agree with the other reviews.
Excuse me, but Samsung says that it is glass while it is plastic. You can scrape it with a nail and it’ll stay that way.
Super Smartphone, small, handy and looks great, 1 star deduction for the display which is very scratch-prone
Such a great phone as much better than the ordinary phones from Samsung Simply refreshing this new design
I am thrilled. The best mobile phone. Handy, super compact and really noble. This deserves full 5 stars
Delivery went well. It was a gift and it arrived great!!!! He’s getting along very well with it!
Small and compact, fits everywhere and is once again something small and not half a PC
This is the best mobile phone ever. I was really looking forward to it.
