Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro - user opinions, reviews

Originally I was planning to buy this Smartphone. That’s where I got away from. In the meantime, everyone knows how the Chinese government is monitoring and harassing its citizens, spying on the industrial nations to our detriment, and at the same time treating our companies operating in China unequally, harassing them. Since Nokia and recently also motorola etc. offer good alternatives, I will resort to this.

In the last 5 years I have only used Apple devices, most recently for 3 years the iPhone 7 Plus, with which I was always extremely satisfied. Now I was in the mood for a new smartphone. Simply because I like the borderless displays so much. The price for the new models called by Apple was (like last year) for me beyond good and evil. My ‘requirements’ were: at least 128 GB memory, large and borderless Amoled display, good battery and since everything should run smoothly, also a good processor. For me it was clear that if I didn’t want to spend more than 1.000 €, I would have to switch to an Android device. Actually, I had already grown fond of iOS, everything just runs smoothly.

So I looked around in the Android warehouse and came across the brand Xiaomi. Wow, they seem to have a good price-performance ratio, I thought. But whether I should really buy a cheap ‘Chinese mobile phone’ with Android after so many years with Apple?! Okay, the Youtube videos were already promising. As Stephan Wiesner always says: Don’t believe, try it out! and so I simply ordered the Xiaomi. Blue and purple look cool, but somehow I found these colours more suitable for the younger generation (I’m turning 40 now…). So I ordered the black version. Then it is not that noticeable. Another thing that always bothered me about my golden iPhone 7 Plus was that the transparent cases (so you can see the nice backside) were already discolored / yellowed after a few weeks.

To get to the point, now my first impressions after one week of use. The punch line in advance (for those who don’t want to read too much) : I am very enthusiastic about the Xiaomi. What they offer for the called price is really crazy!

My impressions:

– the Amoled display with 6,39 inch is awesome! Crisp, high-contrast and sufficiently bright. The illumination is even, everything TOP and I am really PINGLING in this respect.

– The workmanship of the device is excellent. The back is made of glass. Everything makes a very valuable impression. You definitely don’t think that you are holding a device of the 400 € class in your hands. The extendable camera works without any problems. Of course you have to see how it proves itself after a few months.

– The Xiaomi is fast and really fast! Apps start in record time. Okay, I don’t play with the device, but scrolling the browser and starting apps is really fast. My husband has the iPhone Xs and it’s not faster!

– I personally like MiUi very much. I don’t understand that users write here, it’s confusing. Sure, you have to click through for certain settings…but it’s no different with iOS. The interface seems to me to be tidy and intuitive. The device has never crashed before, everything runs smoothly and stable.

– The call quality is excellent and with VoLTE it is much better than on my iPhone. WLAN and network reception are very stable. I can’t complain at all.

– Bluetooth has connected directly to my BMW without any problems, works absolutely trouble-free.

– Except for 3 or 4 apps there was no ‘Bloatware’ installed. This could be deleted with one click and is good. My Xiaomi hasn’t shown any advertising so far.

– The battery is good. But I don’t have the feeling that it is better than my iPhone 7 Plus. It holds very well in standby, but drops when in use…of course depending on the display brightness and other factors. If you don’t use the device excessively and switch on the airplane mode at night, you will get 2 days of use. What’s great is that a 17 Watt power supply is included. Apple can take a leaf out of their book when I see that they only included a 5 watt power supply with the iPhone 11, which is twice as expensive.

– The notifications for the individual apps can be easily set individually and work as well.

– Xiaomi even includes a cover. I think that’s great! The cover is slim and simple. In my opinion, it could be closed at the top and bottom. I also ordered the black spiky cover. It’s very good: closed at the top and bottom, 100% accurate, but it fits more than the included sleeve. The in-display fingerprint sensor works in 9 out of 10 cases. It is not as good as the hardware device sensor of the old Apple models. I have now scanned my thumb and index finger twice each and am satisfied. Now and then you just have to hang up 2x. The face recognition works in 100% of the cases, but is a bit slower, because the camera still has to extend. I use almost only the fingerprint. The camera. The camera. Well, I have to say that I am a passionate hobby photographer and I always have a small system camera with me anyway. That’s why I take maximum snapshots with the smartphone and don’t really care about the camera. I took a few photos for testing and found them okay…but not outstanding now, so I would have had a WOW experience. A smartphone definitely does not replace a camera for me. Probably the cameras are much better with iPhone and Huawei.
>br>I am really absolutely satisfied after one week of use. What bothers me a bit (which Xiaomi can’t do anything about) is the fact that most display glasses don’t fit properly. Since the display is a bit bent at the edges, you can see a white edge on the glass, which looks really unattractive. I ordered a flex foil, let’s see if it fits better. I’ll gladly add to the review accordingly.

My conclusion:

The Xiaomi can definitely hold a candle to my iPhone 7 Plus and is even better because the display is bigger and the whole device looks much nicer due to the narrow edges. It’s also faster. Speed, MiUi, haptics, optics, … everything really on a very high level and if you consider that you have to pay double or more for the ‘flagships’ of Apple, Samsung &amp, Co., then the Mi 9T Pro is an absolute recommendation to buy.

Sorry for the late answer. Unfortunately I didn’t get a notification from Amazon that a question was asked, I only use Google for my contacts, calendar & Co. So moving from iOS to Android (or vice versa) is no problem at all. All data is stored in my google account.

I bought it for 399€ and wanted to replace my outdated OnePlus 3 with the Mi 9T Pro. The plan failed for me. Although the Mi 9T Pro is a really chic smartphone, I will give it back. Here are my key points also in comparison to the OnePlus 3.

** Positive **

+ The workmanship is flawless, there is nothing to complain about at any point of the case. Also the pop-up camera makes a stable impression.

+ A brilliant design. Glacier Blue already has something special and looks even better than on any photo or video.

+ An excellent battery life, or display on time. The OnePlus 3 is clearly at a disadvantage here.

+ A flawless OLED display. In this area I’m very pinky regarding illumination, yellow tint, homogeneity, brightness. With the Mi 9T Pro there’s nothing to complain about.

+ The fingerprint sensor under the display is already a highlight (next to the popup camera) and works better than I thought or reported in various forums.

** Neutral **

o The camera is fine, but nothing more. Considering the good price you should not expect too much. A Google Pixel 3, or a Huawei P20/P30 (Pro) take much better pictures. My OnePlus 3 with the Google Camera Mod takes equal or even better pictures than the Mi 9T Pro. The Mi 9T Pro is quite a brick. Because of the popup camera very thick and heavy. I find it unpleasant to hold it in my hand for a longer time. Also the top-heaviness does not give a secure hold. The maximum are probably the dimensions and the weight of my OnePlus 3.

** negative **

– MIUI is clearly the main reason why the Mi 9T Pro goes back. Even a OnePlus OxygenOS OpenBeta runs by far better than MIUI 10 in the current version. I also don’t want to start with any tinkering. A Smartphone should run out-of-the-box. I find MIUI too overloaded and confusing. There are quite a few Xiaomi apps installed that cannot be deleted. Generally apps can’t be deactivated, I haven’t seen this on any Android variant and for me it’s a NoGo. The interaction of other apps with the system does not work. I use e.g. exclusively the Google alarm clock. On the OnePlus 3 I see an active alarm clock in the status bar. The Mi 9T Pro does not take any notice of it. From my point of view, Xiaomi has tinkered too much with Android and has overused MIUI in the current version. Sometimes less is more.

For now I will stay with OP3. Maybe the OnePlus 7T will come into question if the price stays within the limits.

After a first day of testing I can already say that I am very satisfied with my purchase so far.

I am changing from a OnePlus 3, which is now three years old and cost 400€ just like this one (on offer). In the meantime you get much more for your money – at least at Xiaomi! The price-performance ratio of this phone (also for the normal price of 450€) is probably very good. Is not yet a final review!

Positive:
+Extremely fast. Apps open immediately. No jerking when scrolling.
+3.5mm headphone jack! &lt,3
+fingerprint scanner in the display
+The display is really nice because of the almost completely missing edges. No notch, no camera hole. Contrast, brightness, readability outside etc. everything is great.
+Camera app is quite comprehensive and easy to use.
+First photos show a good subjectively good quality and the three different cameras are practical. Other high-end smartphones probably take slightly better photos, especially at night. The wide-angle camera is a bit blurred in the corners.
+Selfie-camera also takes good photos and the drive out works fast enough in my opinion.
+The pattern on the back of the glass is really nice to look at and covers fingerprints at least a bit, despite the glass.
+The big battery should keep you relaxed all day long. With moderate use, you’re more likely to last a day and a half or more. But this is very dependent on your own use.
+Many settings.
+Dual-GPS promises higher GPS accuracy.
+LTE, WLAN and Bluetooth are working fine so far.

Neutral:
– No wireless charging – I personally don’t need it but also not
– Fingerprint scanner under the display works fast most of the time, but every now and then I have to use it twice. In any case, it is reliable enough not to attract negative attention. Animation can’t be deactivated, so it never unlocks before the end of the animation.
– The 2x zoom is not really convincing and offers hardly any advantages compared to cutting/digital zooming with the 48MP main camera. Slightly better readability of text or similar in low light conditions.
– Sound/music through the speakers is – despite the lack of stereo – good.

Negative:
-Relatively heavy and thicker than most other phones in its class. But 4000 mA battery and headphone jack. It’s probably worth it.
glass back: I just don’t like that on smartphones. Makes it very slippery in the hand. For protection it should actually be in a case, but why does it look so good? My previous mobile phones never had a cover – but here I’ll probably have to get one (or use the included protective cover, which by the way smells a lot like chemistry/plastics).

I’ll update the review as soon as I have had more detailed experience with the phone. But first of all there’s a definite buy recommendation!

Addendum Camera Images:
I have added three images, all taken from the same point of view with the three different cameras to show how much more you can get with the wide angle lens (0.6x zoom according to the camera app compared to the main camera) or how close you can get something. The sharpness decreases in the corners of the wide-angle camera, but it’s still really useful for landscape photos. In good light, the 2x zoom camera is also quite good for capturing details better. But none of the cameras really knocks me off my feet when it comes to image quality. The results are definitely good for a smartphone, but other (more expensive) phones might take better pictures. Especially the contours show that the camera software is still sharpening. My 3 year old OnePlus 3 doesn’t have to hide from the Xiaomi when it comes to the main camera.

#Foreword

The following points are !mine! !subjective! Evaluation of the device.
I bought the phone in the Black Friday promotion for 349€. I was looking for a successor for my Nokia 7 Plus. This should go to my sister, because her mobile phone had been a blessing in time. Accordingly, I am currently a bit spoiled regarding the UI.

# Positive
+ design of the device. It looks very chic and especially because of the ‘notchless’ display it is an eye-catcher.
+ No Notch. Personally I never use the Selfie camera, so I think this is a great idea.
+ The battery life is great and Quick Charge 4 (!) is available. It comes with only one Quick Charge 3 power supply but even with that the phone is very quickly full again.
++ The specs are incredible for this price

# Neutral
+- I had hoped for more from the camera. In good light the camera has a slight green cast on blue objects and people look strange. The GCam Mod improves this considerably. The photos at night / low light are ok, but the GCam also improves this considerably. Compared to my Nokia I expected more here.
+- The security patch on the Mi 9T Pro (status 13.12.2019) is from 01.10.2019. So here you are 2 months behind. This is not bad but under Android One level.

# Negative
– The focus. When I took the first one in my hand I almost fell over backwards. Because of the center of gravity I personally (small hands) have to hold the device high up, which results in the fact that I have one finger on the camera. Thus this is constantly smudged.
– By the weight of the mobile phone this is to be held for me also already after short time unpleasantly.
– The finger mark sensor needs with me approx. 2-4 seconds to recognize the mark. Also with the ‘trick’ to scan the same finger twice.

– Last but not least the point MIUI. Here I saw from the beginning the biggest problem for me. After the first start you land on the start screen and there you have some apps and no appdrawer. So you try to imitate Apple IOS here. Funny idea, but MIUI does not use IOS (gestures, etc.) nearly as well as IOS. An Appdrawer would have been good for the system mMn.

Furthermore there are 24 Apps on the system in addition to the usual Google Apps at my place! Apps have been installed on the system, some of which cannot be uninstalled. Why manufacturers put their own browser on it I also did not understand. These are always worse than Chrome/Firefox/Opera and just clutter up the system.

But especially ‘funny’ is the app ‘Themes’, which doesn’t even start in the region Germany! The app is not available here, but uninstall it without tools? No chance.
Yes I know that you can change the region for a short time, but this is only a workaround.

After the start I was offered the update to MIUI 11 (Android 10) after a short search. This I downloaded and installed. Afterwards the settings look a bit more tidy. But they are still not clear.

# Conclusion
# The specs are top but the UI is not usable for me personally. Because of the remaining negative points the decision is clear for me. The device is unfortunately going back.

#### Update 03.01.2020

– Security questionable software functions *
– Audio via jack/Bluetooth is very quiet (compared to the Nokia 7 Plus)
– Connection aborts with Bluetooth connections

* The mobile phone unlocks after entering the PIN without further confirmation. This might encourage brute force attacks.

17.12.2019 Attention:
I just found out that Google smart lock Bluetooth under MIUI currently only works with Xiaomi Bluetooth devices. This is really bad news for all who want to use their smartphone in the car.
The smartphone has to be unlocked manually every time it is used in the car. Which is dangerous and in Germany also forbidden while driving. A use with car services etc. is therefore hardly possible without a custom ROM or a Mi Band that is in the car.
I am extremely disappointed !!!!

The hardware is currently really outstanding at this price.
All the good things that other reviewers write about the value, speed etc. I can only confirm.
The pop-up camera is a highlight. Missing IP68 certification against dust and water the future has to show me what I think about it.
Missing possibility of memory expansion is very painful for me because copying data from and to the SD card directly is much faster than via the port of the mobile phone.
All in all there is nothing better in my opinion at the moment for the price of hardware-technically.

Now I come to the dark side of the software:
The MIUI is heavily nested and needs getting used to.
The missing App-Drawer also needs getting used to and is awkward to use. What the pre-installed apps do in the direction of advertising, spying and imposing other apps is in my eyes already coercion.
In this state this smartphone is only suitable for people who think very carefully about which button they press where and why.
The bad thing is, that these pre-installed apps are not uninstallable.
Also moving them to an area where you can’t see them is not really possible, because the folder structure doesn’t allow it.
I just hope that it pays off for Xiaomi if you ruin your reputation with something like that.

This mobile phone is a foreign model, not a German operating system

Have returned it

Since my other smartphone was unfortunately spontaneously only usable as a letter weight, I compared devices with a good price/performance ratio.
Here the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro is clearly at the top of the podium.
The device comes clean and in a high quality packaging.
The first time you switch it on, after a few settings you are greeted with a beautiful home screen on a high quality display.
During the first installation you are also asked to create an account with Xiaomi, which I did. More about this later.

A few minutes after the first installation you will also be prompted to upgrade to the next Android version.
This is relatively fast and unobtrusive. Reboot is necessary.

First apps installed and accounts set up.
Here you’ll see problems for the first time, because apps are downloaded with a long delay.
A look at the Android forum says that this is normal and has something to do with the network settings.
Changed settings and it works as usual.
>Camera test runs satisfactorily. It’s well known that there are devices with better cameras.
However, any criticism would really be a whining on a high level.
For normal photos and most users the camera quality is completely sufficient.

Front camera tested.
This is truly a show how the camera moves out of the housing.
Photos are, for selfies, completely sufficient.
Loud manufacturer also retracts the camera very quickly in case of a fall to avoid damage.
Youtube videos confirm this, I didn’t want to test it.

Alas, even my standard apps show that the device has a very aggressive power saving mode.
So the weather in the widget is sometimes not updated,
Calendar notifications come only after unlocking the display
and the agenda created as a widget can’t be clicked anymore.
Creating a new widget helps until the next stand-by.
In the Android forum it is explained that to solve the problem you can rotate the device to get access to more settings.
This shouldn’t be really necessary for the pure operation of clock, weather and calendar apps.
In fact it was already clear that I can’t be happy with this device

In addition it shows that some things were apparently forgotten during the translation into German.
I keep getting system notifications in English.
That’s a bit embarrassing, but actually irrelevant.

Device was then reset via the internal settings.
That’s quite fast and you’ll be welcomed back for setup after a short time.
It’s then also necessary to log in to the above mentioned Xiaomi account. I don’t know if this is a protection against theft.
It’s a pity that the display suddenly doesn’t accept any input anymore when logging in to the account, i.e. it has to be restarted once.
The problem is gone after a restart, but only for about 30 seconds.
Restart again, same problem again.
Device is completely reset via key combination when restarting.
Then again problems with input.

Device was then complained and sent back to Amazon.

In total you can say that Xiaomi has built in some top hardware here.
The processor, memory and RAM should be enough for the next years. but the fact that some calendar apps, whatsapp and telegram don’t send notifications anymore makes the device useless. Even changed energy saving options only partially help.
I can exclude a hardware problem with the display, because the error always appears first after about 30 seconds after reboot.
So it’s probably also the software

Lately I had recommended Xiaomi devices more often due to the price/performance ratio.
Since my mother has now signed up for my previous phone (Honor View10) and the technical data sounds quite good I ordered the Mi 9T Pro during the promotion for 399€. good camera (there are better ones for example). B from Huawei but they are usually also 200€ more expensive)

there is a notification LED, in principle this would be positive only the blue is with the blue version and therefore only visible in absolute darkness (red in red version could be difficult to see but I could not judge, black version has the red LED, which is also visible in daylight).

I have currently problems with the Internet in the Vodafone network, this can be due to the switching between 3G and 4G or the network itself, Vodafone seems to have problems in northern Germany, I didn’t have something like this with the Honor View 10, but I can’t specify if it’s due to the mobile phone or the network, this remains neutral. Hardwarewise there’s no multicolor LED installed, the installed LED can only display two brightness levels.
Since the notification LED is not visible in the blue version, you could try to use the AOD. Only an expert came up with the idea to allow only the 11 apps approved in China in the Global ROM.
There is a ROM from Xiaomi.EU where in Europe common messengers are integrated but this is more for people with experience who sometimes spend a little longer in a forum to solve their problems, I would expect that a device sold in Europe has this ROM installed.

That sounded more negative than it was meant to be, current phones from Samsung or Huawei don’t have a notification LED and similar problems with the AOD (Always On Display) mostly at a higher price.

Conclusion:
I’m keeping the phone.
because my previous one is already used elsewhere.
I have to read the peculiarities of every cheap manufacturer first.

Positive:
As positive I would like to emphasize the chic design and the very good workmanship.
Also the cameras are good to very good, and the front camera takes selfies with nice bokeh, but a bit too bad with red tinge. The mechanics of the extendable front camera is very well done and looks quite futuristic. If you don’t like the sound when you extend the camera, you can change it in the system settings (not camera settings!) or switch it off.
The Mi 9T Pro has an excellent bright amoled display without any punchhole or notch. That’s great.
The built-in speaker sounds appealing, but unfortunately not stereo. This could be better.
It runs Android 10 in the heavily modified MI UI 11 based on a top processor (Snapdragon 855). That should work – you think, or?

Negative:
I can’t recommend the Mi 9T Pro despite the good hardware. Because it needs a good software for that. And there is a 3 star deduction. The whole user interface runs jerky, rarely fluently. The Chrome Browser stutters correctly when scrolling.
The built-in calendar synchronizes with the Google account only hesitantly or not at all and has fonts that are much too small, even in the color of the respective entries, which are difficult to read. Even if you increase the text size in the system settings. (And yes I know you can use other calendar apps).
The notifications are rarely shown on the Always On display – or not at all, unless you play around with the notification settings for each app. It’s really no fun to fiddle around with details all the time and is only for experienced users. Laymen might despair here. If you want to get annoyed again and again because messages are shown in the pulldown menu at the top, but not in the AlwaysONDisplay or vice versa, this is the right place to go.
And yes Android Auto works, if you – yes right! – in the individual apps (e.g. Whats App etc.) the Autostart function is activated. To do this you have to go back into each app setting and ….
And then there is the brightness sensor, which should automatically control the brightness of the otherwise good AmoledDisplay. This sensor does not only react to the ambient light, but to my despair also to the display itself. If the screen shows a lot of black and gray, the sensor adjusts itself down to very dark. It practically thinks it’s pitch-black. Conversely, it suddenly turns up really bright when the screen shows a lot of white (e.g. in the browser or calendar). Then the sensor thinks the sun is shining on the display. Especially in darker rooms, the sensor will then run back and forth from very bright to very dark, depending on the content on the display. That’s annoying !!!!
And then there’s the AlwayOnDisplay, which Xiaomi calls inactivity display. This switches off in the dark to conserve battery power. So if you want to use your mobile phone as a night clock or check the display for news entries when it’s darker (a cosy evening of TV is enough here), you’ll be disappointed.

FAZIT:
In sum, a good hardware with a solid camera, workmanship and a nice display is not enough if the software on it forces too many weaknesses and bugs. Despite the high-end processor one never gets the feeling that the Mi 9T Pro is also a real high-end smartphone. The annoying MI user interface on Android 10 basis alone makes sure of that.

The device goes back.

Positive:
+ good materials and workmanship
+ good camera
+ very good display
+ good sound from the speaker
+ very fast
+ good battery life
+ display without notch
+ MIUI offers some additional settings I haven’t seen on the competition (download speed in the status bar, set a notification by category from an app, disable a SIM completely)
+ very good value for money

negative:
– always on display can only show notifications from a few apps, so don’t use it
– quite heavy 191g, watching long videos in landscape format hurts your hands
– vibration motor not as comfortable as on Samsung, Apple etc.
– notifications disappear from the lock screen once the phone is unlocked, it would be nice if it could be set up
– in silent mode the apps vibrate when downloading files (e.g. Google Play Store when installing apps). You have to remember to select Show system services under Manage apps and then disable vibration on the second download app displayed
– a bit thick, if the mobile phone would be a little thinner it would feel better in the hand
– got feedback via the Xiaomi app about the software and did not get an answer
– German translations partly not contextually correct
– notification LED would have been better placed in the ear speaker, like MI 9 instead of on top of the pop-up selfie camera
– WLAN speed drops by half through 2 walls With 3 other mobile phones ( 2x Samsung, Honor) it is not the case

I bought the Mi 9T Pro as successor of my OnePlus 6, because it should have a faster processor, bigger battery and better cameras.
The main criterion for me were and are always the cameras, because I like to take good pictures and don’t always want to carry a reflex with me.
However, all cameras take dull and blurred photos compared to the OnePlus 6.
The Triple Camera lacks an optical image stabilisation, so the photos are always blurred. Furthermore the 48 megapixels are a fake, because 4 so-called superpixels are combined to one, so the camera only has a resolution of 12 megapixels.
Even the selfie camera lacks detail and color fidelity, so photos always look blurred and colorless.
If you don’t attach great importance to good cameras, the smartphone works very fast and the 4000 mAh battery lasts accordingly long.
The in-display fingerprint sensor works amazingly well, 17 of 20 unlocks worked without problems, probably you have to practice to get the right place on the display.

My old S7 broke down, so I needed a new smartphone. Since I only do standard things with the smartphone, I didn’t want to spend too much money. That’s how I came across the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro, as it has great features and a fair price. Even if I was sceptical at first, I am positively surprised.
The setup is simple and the whole interface is familiar to Android users, even if it is a separate MI version.
The fingerprint sensor in the display works very well. Also the camera takes very nice photos and videos. The front camera is built into the case and comes out at the push of a button. This works faultless. If the phone should fall down while the front camera is out, it will retract automatically to prevent damage to the camera. This also works surprisingly well. The battery also lasts for two days without any problems, but in the long run it will definitely wear out a bit. Games run smoothly on it and also the charging times are fast.
So far only two things bother me on the phone.
1) Because it is an Infinity Display there is no LED notification light. This is located on the front camera and is therefore difficult to see. In addition, all notifications, whether WhatsApp, SMS, etc., are displayed with the same color. Maybe you get used to it.
2) The mobile phone is not able to connect to a Speedport Router via WLAN if the router is secured by WPA2. The problem can be solved by changing the encryption to WPA/WPA 2. I can’t say if the problem with other routers exists as well.

In total I am absolutely satisfied. For the price (399 Euro) with the equipment you are at a very good price-performance ratio. For the average smartphone user it is more than sufficient.

Finally Xiaomi has arrived in Germany and the first devices are officially available for purchase. This is not my first Xiaomi, I have already imported a few from China, including the Mi 5, Mi 5S and Mi Mix. For me, there was always a reason to buy Xiaomi smartphones and that was the great performance. The Xiaomis have always been among the fastest phones around and the Mi 9T Pro is no exception (see my screenshots). More than 372,300 in the Antutu at the price? Almost unbelievable, but true and nothing faked. But this Beast is not only as fast as an arrow but also of high quality and fully equipped. The InDisplay fingerprint sensor works much faster than the one in the Samsung Galaxy S10+ (I had before, but the battery… very bad), but the Samsung definitely takes better photos (but at what price). Speaking of which… the Mi 9T Pro camera is really the ONLY thing you can criticize about this device. It’s simply middle class! But when it comes to cameras, Xiaomi has never been particularly outstanding, Huawei and Samsung are simply better at that. Those who praise the camera don’t seem to know a better one, or are lying to themselves. The GCam App can help here. The photos become much better, but I think Xiaomi herself should generally pay more attention to the camera. The speaker is only mono, but sounds good and loud enough. The rimless AmoLED display is really good, and the battery is also very convincing. The MiUi is also no longer as opaque and overloaded as in the previous versions, which is pleasant and praiseworthy. To judge the design of the phone is subjective, I like it very much, I have the blue version. The Pop-Up Selfie camera is somehow cool to put a grin on your face and the quality of the photos is good with the GCam app. Considering the prices of Apple, Samsung and Huawei, it’s really absurd that nothing of this kind is included. All in all I can only recommend the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro. Those who want to have one of the currently fastest smartphones with a thick battery and a super display and are satisfied with a middle class camera will do everything right here. But if the camera is the most important thing of a smartphone, you should rather try your luck somewhere else. Thank you for a useful one. ?

Update: Since the update to Android 10 the phone was hardly usable. Bugs over bugs, even Gmail didn’t want to load mails anymore… meanwhile we sold the device!

I bought this smartphone at the end of November in the offer price and now it is a good 2 months in use. I limit myself with the evaluation to the minimal information and answer questions afterwards. If there is something wrong with the Smartphone, I will add to the evaluation accordingly.
I was looking for a Smartphone with good battery performance, sufficient screen size (but not so big that it doesn’t fit in your pocket) and a budget under 400 EUR. It also didn’t have to be the latest model. Apple is not available for me for various reasons and is in a league that is not interesting for me. I had Honor/Huawei phones in the past, but after it is known that Google Apps will not run in the foreseeable future, the good and cheap alternatives are dwindling. So let’s have a look at Xiaomi, who have been selling in Europe since last late summer. The battery lasts 1.5-2 days with moderate use, but use very energy-hungry apps like Garmin Connect, otherwise I think it will last much longer. The settings of this smartphone are almost unlimited, normal users like me certainly don’t need all of them. The fingerprint sensor, which is placed in the middle of the screen, works great. In general, the thing is very fast and does everything in a few seconds. You can use 2 Sim cards but not another memory card. The front camera that comes out of the case is a nice gimmick but you are afraid to use it more often because I personally don’t believe that this feature will last a lifetime (2 years max). The quality is very good, you can take very good pictures even without complicated settings. But it certainly doesn’t have the quality of a top smartphone like the P30 Pro. The only thing that bothers me about this phone are the settings for tones and volume. The DND mode, which you activate for example at night so as not to be disturbed, is deactivated as soon as you press one of the outer buttons. So you often get confused and in the end you don’t know if the mode is now silent or not. Here less would be more..
For 350 EUR you get a lot of Smartphone for a small price. Hopefully this brand doesn’t spread too much on the market, otherwise the apple lawyers from the Wild Wild West will come with sanctions and prohibitions to use the Google Apps etc., similar to Huawei.

I have the mobile phone since the beginning of October.

The data and apps of the old phone could be restored easily with the help of the Google-Drive backup and WhatsApp backup, maybe 4-5 apps with special accounts I had to reinstall.
Too late I thought about whether the app Phoneclone developed by Huawei/Honor would have worked too, I would try anyway, since I had a Honor device before.

I am thrilled. Battery lasts up to 2 1/2 days with regular use, no games or continuous use up to 2 1/2 days, if WLan/Bluetooth is not switched off.
The display is easy to read no matter what brightness.

Apps start super fast.

No problems so far concerning the display. Bluetooth or WLan, login without problems, no interruptions

I can’t understand the criticism of the operating system set up by Xiaomi, I used to have a Honor 10, but it was very similar to the one I used before.

The update to Android 10 has been installed for a few days now, everything ran without problems.

The processing is very good, no columns or anything else. Pulling out the selfie camera is also no problem, very reliable.

To the camera:

buy? A smartphone or a high-tech SLR camera in flat format.

Clearly, if I take a motive with maximum zoom, which then enlarges on the PC,
not much depth of field remains. But this is also the case with many digicams.

The camera takes very good pictures in all light conditions,
the night mode works well,
as well as the wide angle and 2x tele.

The pictures were taken in October on Norderney, first in the ferry with wide angle, the seals in the city centre without flash in night mode, the conservatory with wide angle. The pictures are NOT reworked, the sky was also not always blue.

I can only recommend the MI 9 T Pro, especially if you do it with apple or sam… models compared.

Clear purchase recommendation

Actually a great phone, great color. But the PopUp (Selfie) camera is not working properly. When you stop using the phone, the camera doesn’t come out and you get an error message. It also happened that the mobile phone needed 10 attempts, until it worked.

Well I expected more from the mobile phone…
I switched from a OnePlus 6T to the mobile phone…
Hasn’t been worth it in any way so far… It’s just China quality…

I can’t really find a single point of criticism for the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro, but the display didn’t work properly on my copy. As soon as you turned it on, the MI logo appeared, and about 5 seconds later, the picture crunched and you only had a mix of colored and gray pixels on the display (see picture).
Luckily, I was able to exchange the smartphone. Many thanks to Amazon!

Was satisfied iPhone user, but wished me 3 things for my new phone:
– display without notch, pinhole or any other notch
– in-display fingerprint reader, so you can unlock the phone even when it is on the table
– a fair price/performance ratio

All this Apple can’t offer me! Therefore I was forced, so to speak, to switch to another device. The Xiaomi met all my requirements and the price is very good in comparison.

I can report almost nothing negative after one week, the phone works great! I’ve never owned an Android phone before, of course it’s a bit of an adjustment, but after a few days it hardly bothers me at all.

Small criticism:
– if you look at the photos on the PC at 100%, they’re not so great and have a lot of picture noise. Here I tried another camera app (the one from Google Pixel) and the photos are better! Xiaomi should improve the app here
– 6.4 is a bit too big for me. I would like a mobile phone with the same technical data in 5.8

-what I like:
– battery life is impressive, I’m not a heavy user and I think this thing will last for 3 days without recharging.
– Pop-up camera is top! Everybody should have this. No hole in the display and yes, not uninteresting for privacy reasons. We just got the message of this huge hack on iPhones… The fact is, a hacker can also switch on the camera.
– Fingerprint sensor in the display works perfectly and fast. Super!

– Conclusion:
– Also for an Apple user a good buy
– Top price/performance ratio

I had bought this mobile phone, because I heard so many positive things about it. It has many characteristics, one finds rather with twice as expensive mobile phones. br> br> br>+ great display br>+ no notch br>+ fast processor br>+ lies well in the hand br> br> br>~ MIUI 10-&gt that needs getting used to, recommend a change to the PocoLauncher br>~ Pop-Up Kammera catches many dust particles in the trouser pocket.

– It takes quite a long time to set up the mobile phone and there is no software to help you to change from your old mobile phone.
– Many Xiaomi Apps, which take a lot of rights. Clock, calculator and music app want to transfer data to the manufacturer. These apps can’t be deactivated either
– Bad Bluetooth. Could not find two of my headphones. Very annoying

I switched from a Galaxy s7 after 2,5 years of use.

I am mega satisfied overall.
I like everything except for a few small things.
Most of the things you notice negative at the beginning are just unusual and not negative at all, sometimes you find it better afterwards than the predecessor.
All in all great, except that not all icons are shown in the always on display when a new message arrives. E.g. I don’t see new telegram messages, only in the lock screen at the top of the bar… I couldn’t find anything about that, under notifications everything is activated. I drove from Switzerland to Germany, and the network did not automatically switch to a German network, although the border was already more than 20km behind me. So I wanted to restart the mobile phone once, it went down… and didn’t turn on again.
or it did turn on, but the screen stayed dark forever from then on. There was a vibration sign and the red light in the popup camera was on when you tried to turn it on again and again.

Also shortcuts for rebooting didn’t help. It stayed dark.

So sent back and got a replacement. Replacement came with Czech stickers and had partly other standard tips on it, but you could remove them.

Since one week I have the spare part, works just as well. I hope this was an isolated case and I have longer fun with it.

Very very good phone, the resolution fits well, camera is not bad either, you can adjust and personalize a lot, reacts well and has great features, enough memory, good processor and manages every game without problems, minimum brightness should be increased a bit but doesn’t really bother, extendable interior camera is very cool especially for the display and has so far nothing (have the device for about 6 months) hope that it remains so, because there is no notch etc. gambling or series look extremely cool, all bugs etc. are constantly and remarkably well fixed by xiaomi, fingerprint sensor responds very fast and reliable, weight according to the size allowed, nice workmanship and cool backsides available, covers and screen protectors where the in-display fingerprint sensor works are sufficient, battery life is also really good, never had problems on longer flights etc, you get a very good charger cable and a cover with it, Speakers are also really good and have a great maximum volume, wifi range, nfc, bluetooth, hotspot, etc. responds quickly and runs stable, can not complain about the smartphone, it keeps up with all other flagship phones without any problems and that at an unbeatable price.
Unambiguous purchase recommendation

I have been using the phone for about a month. (Before Moto Play…)
Haptic is good. It lies well in the hand. I still use the protective cover (fear of falling). Relatively heavy but you get used to it quickly but it’s not for single-handed use (unless you have huge hands).
The display is very bright and colour reproduction is good. Yes and no more annoying bars. (Was important to me).
The pop-up camera is nice and makes good selfies (But I hardly use it at all).
The main camera takes very nice pictures unlike my old smartphone (you can see that the technology has gone further).
The interface takes getting used to but not bad. You have to sort the apps a little bit different but you can find your way around very fast..
The Smartphone is really fast! I haven’t found an app or anything else where there are delays or something like that yet.
The battery is also very good for this display monster. I can handle normal to heavy usage (Internet/Videos/Games/Bluetooth) easily throughout the day. With little use also 2 days.
Recharging is super fast! About one hour and you are from 0 to 100.^^
All in all:
A clear buying recommendation for all who want a cheap, very good smartphone without annoying edges

I use my mobile phones with 3 email accounts. Unfortunately, the software is not able to display a visible feature for each email account, which makes it confusing and therefore not usable for me.

In the camera app, you can select wide-angle, telephoto or ultra-wide with three dots, even in video mode. You can also set a software zoom. But although the point is set to Tele, the camera still films with wide angle, as one can see by covering the lens with the finger! Only the digital software zoom is switched to 2x!

In photo mode the tele works, but only as long as it’s not too dark. Then the app switches to the normal lens without informing the user. In bright light, the app does not switch back to the tele, only if you quit and restart the app. Only in professional photo mode does the tele remain on in the dark.

Another bug of the camera app is in portrait mode. As soon as a head is detected, the bokeh blur is no longer summed up from several cameras, but the head is left sharp as quickly as it is cut out with scissors.

Hope these bugs will be fixed in the next updates. I have tested it with MIUI-10.3.4.0 (October 2019) and now send the phone back because I had chosen it just because of the triple camera.

Besides that the Mi 9T Pro meets all my expectations. Therefore 4 stars.

Pluspoints, which I especially noticed:
– The WLAN has a very good range.
– Sound when phoning and playing music are also very good.

First of all: in the global version (sold here) there is no advertising, unlike the China/India version, MIUI is intuitive to use and looks good (very similar to Apple), MIUI is comparable to Samsung’s One UI etc., of course it depends on personal preference, but if other reviews say it’s not as good as e.g. One Plus’s Oxygen OS, I can’t understand that, in my opinion MIUI is better. For example, with third party apps you can use themes to set emojis system-wide, for example Apple or Samsung instead of the standard android emojis. The animations seem more extensive and polished than on stock android.

I don’t have to say much about the hardware, except for the display, the specifications are almost as good as those of a One Plus 7 Pro or Galaxy S10+. While the AMOLED display is still good compared to many other mid-range devices, the 1080p pixel density is definitely noticeable in the size, compared to the 1440p flagship displays, which also have nicer colors and brightness. But as I said, otherwise you hardly notice a 400€ instead of 800€ device to use here.

I bought this phone for my wife.
Yours was a bit outdated and she wanted a new one.

This Smartphone more than surprised me. After the many negative reviews I was not quite sure if I should spend the money. But now I don’t doubt a bit more. It seems that some people are too often overcome by serious pessimism or a lack of ability to change over to something new… But no matter…

In short form:
+ Fullsize display incl. gestures funzt mega. 2 minutes acclimatized and the device swisht only so back and forth.
+ Fingerprint sensor folds in each direction 100 percent and as fast as an arrow.
+ permissions and notifications can be set in detail and they all work
+ processor is super fast, you have absolutely no (and I mean between 0 and 100 ms!!!) waiting time.
+ camera takes great pictures! At night, moving objects, AI camera, videos… Everything pin sharp, even without stabi.!
+ MIUI is also learnable. With a few adjustments and a short acclimatisation you will feel at home very fast.

So to all who doubt: Buy it, you will not regret it! 🙂

MMn there is currently only the choice between Mi 9 in 9 T Pro, if you want high-end under 400 €. Both differ in nuances.

Mi 9:
– better wide angle and tele lens
– wireless charging
– Gorilla Glass 6 all around
– ultra slim
– additional button on the housing, freely assignable

Mi 9 T Pro:
– much stronger battery
– no notch / front camera extendable
– headphone jack
– dedicated amplifier

– Since I rarely do selfies and use good wired headphones on business trips, my choice fell on the Mi 9 T Pro.
